Chapter 389 - Chapter 388: Attack

Hidan looked up at the sky, but the sky above was clear without a cloud in sight. Even birds were absent, let alone airplanes.

Then Hidan glanced at both sides of the road. Although he wasn't a sensory-type ninja, reaching the level of a Kage, he was acutely aware of the slightest movements in his surroundings.

"So, this is the ambush that Itachi mentioned?"

"A group of weaklings actually thinks they can capture Hidan-sama. How laughable!"

Detecting the ambush in the distance, Hidan didn't pay it much attention and continued walking towards the village.

At this moment, the village had already been set up with an ambush by S.H.I.E.L.D. It harbored numerous S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, fully armed and eagerly awaiting Hidan's approach.

Some agents even disguised themselves as villagers, sitting at the village entrance, chatting or smoking. Seeing Hidan approaching in the distance, they showed no sign of concern.

However, hidden earpieces conveyed instructions to them intermittently.

As Hidan approached, the distance to the village entrance became closer—1000 meters, 500 meters, 300 meters...

Soon, Hidan arrived at the village entrance, within the effective range of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents lurking in the village, ready to use tranquilizer guns.

At this moment, an old man smoking at the village entrance turned to Hidan and asked, "Where are you from, and who are you looking for?"

As the old man attracted Hidan's attention with this inquiry, other hidden agents received a command through their earpieces: "Attack!"

Following the order, those chatting, strolling, and even those lying in wait on the village rooftops all brought out their tranquilizer guns and shot tranquilizer darts toward Hidan.

Even the old man who had just spoken took out a tranquilizer pistol from his lower back and swiftly fired at Hidan.

Seeing the sudden change, Hidan revealed a sinister smile. He kicked the old man who had spoken directly, sending him flying before he could pull the trigger, crashing into a nearby tree and meeting his demise.

As other tranquilizer darts came flying towards him, Hidan swiftly moved to the side, evading all of them. The darts embedded themselves in the ground.

Hidan glanced at the fallen darts, lifted his Triple-Bladed Scythe, and charged toward the direction of the attackers.

At the same time, the command center at the military base one hundred kilometers away, led by Barton, was remotely overseeing everything through all the surveillance cameras within the village.

Barton, watching the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents' missed shots, had already anticipated it. He picked up a radio and said, "Deploy gas containers!"

However, Hidan's attack speed was too fast. Several S.H.I.E.L.D. agents at the village entrance, who had yet to follow Barton's instructions and take out the gas containers, had already met their end.

A special agent perched on a rooftop had just taken out a tranquilizer dart from his waist when, before he could throw it towards Hidan, a shadow suddenly appeared before him.

Hidan swiftly grabbed a dart resembling a smoke grenade from the agent's hand, containing tranquilizing gas.

Without wasting any time, he delivered a powerful kick to the agent's chest, sending him plummeting from the rooftop to meet his demise.

Just as Hidan was about to inspect one of the tranquilizer darts, a large number of smoke grenades were thrown towards Hidan's direction from behind the village.

As these smoke grenades hit the rooftops, they released a substantial amount of white gas upon landing near Hidan.

Hidan swiftly retreated, avoiding the range of the tranquilizer gas, but numerous tranquilizer darts continued to be launched.

"Poison gas, huh?"

Hidan, relying on his immortality, casually took a sniff without any concern.

"Tranquilizer gas. They actually think they can capture Hidan-sama with this garbage!"

Hidan crushed the tranquilizer darts in his hand and directly launched an assault on the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents inside the village.

Wielding his Triple-Bladed Scythe, the sound of gunfire, explosions, and screams resonated as Hidan unleashed havoc.

"Da, da, da!"

"Boom, boom!"

"Ah!"

Hidan's speed was so fast that the agents couldn't even aim at him. Hand grenades and bullets shot towards him had no effect whatsoever.

Several snipers, positioned a kilometer away from the village, watched as Hidan massacred inside. However, they couldn't lock onto Hidan's figure; in their eyes, Hidan appeared as a streak of red light through the scope.

"Commander, requesting support! Snipers can't lock onto the target."

Command center-

Barton observed the incoming footage.

The agents inside were screaming in agony, their assault rifles' triggers squeezed tightly, firing randomly in all directions with no effect. After a pitiful scream, they fell dead.

Their head-mounted recorders were directed towards the sky, and then a giant foot stomped down, resulting in a blackout.

In dozens of monitors, continuously, cameras were smashed, destroyed, but some remained intact. They either pointed at rooftops or the sky, occasionally capturing one or two focused on the road, recording Hidan's rampage.

Looking at the screens, Barton immediately ordered, "Tank units, initiate the attack. When within range, launch a full attack. Black Hawk helicopters, take off for an assault."

At this moment, a special agent spoke up, "Commander, our people are still inside."

Barton glanced at the screen, where the red dots were disappearing continuously. Each red dot represented a life, and in his cold voice, he stated, "No one's alive anymore."

With Barton's command, the tank units, located ten kilometers away, immediately started moving. Their maximum range was 9 kilometers, and they rushed forward at full speed.

Three Black Hawk helicopters, carrying missiles, also took off immediately upon receiving orders, flying towards the village ten kilometers away.

If time permitted and if it didn't pose any influence issues, Barton would have called in the missile unit directly for an attack on Hidan.

Others had limited knowledge of ninjas, but Barton, who had lost Barbara, had been collecting intelligence on ninjas.

He was well aware of their extraordinary abilities, and ordinary weapons had limited impact. Only heavy weaponry could pose a threat.

Hidan continued his rapid slaughter inside the village, where both S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and the original residents were indiscriminately targeted.

This time, Hidan didn't spare anyone. Whether they were black, white, or yellow, if they were present in the village at this moment, they all faced the fate of slaughter.

The sounds of gunfire and explosions, accompanying Hidan's attacks, changed from an initial intensity to sporadic shots, eventually fading away completely.

Soon, all 50 S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were left inside the village, and Hidan, holding his Triple-Bladed Scythe, walked out of the last house, disdainfully stating, "With such strength, they still want to capture Hidan-sama!"
