Chapter 15 - An Artist's Dream 0.2

After a few minutes, I heard sounds of scribbling and footsteps coming my way. I opened my eyes and saw the person who was next to me yesterday come my way. Of course, just when I thought she saw me, she kept walking towards my direction, all the while drawing stuff in her paper.

She sat down next to me, and started muttering stuff. The lines were all exactly the same as yesterday.

"Splat! The vines gouged out the traveler's heart, consuming it!" she said.

I really can't believe that she's drawing all that while narrating it. I'm visualizing that happening, and it was really gruesome. In fact, it was so gruesome that I felt like asking for more.

"Yo," I said, greeting her.

"Eep!" she squealed quietly in respond while covering her face. The tip of her ears became red. "U-Uuu…"

"Don't worry, it's me from yesterday," I said.

I raised both my arms like a criminal being caught by the police. In response, she lowered both of her hands blocking her face, and her expression seemed to relax for a bit.

"G-Good afternoon…"

"Uh-huh."

Despite her personality, it seems like she can at least exchange greetings properly.

"What are you making now?"

"I-It's nothing special…"

"As long as there's blood, there's worth in it."

After that, we basically just met up every now and then in the library.

There are times when Senpai-san came to my classsroom, but that was all. We barely hung out, and when we see each other, it's just for a few minutes.

Eventually, a week has passed by doing the same routine all of the time, and the girl in the library and I became what you would call close acquaintances. I'd meet with her at least once a day in the library, and I'm always the first one to greet her.

Of course, the way she approaches me is by just scribbling her crayon around a paper while walking towards me and muttering random words, pretty much not knowing she was heading to my desk. I've gotten used to it by now, though.

Today as well, I was going to head towards the library to chill and listen in on the girl as she was talking on her forever endless monologuing.

I entered the library, and what greeted me first was the blue hair of a person that I was not expecting in front of the reception desk. The girl who slept with me last week, Miku Akiyama.

I went up behind her, and pat her shoulder once.

"Yo, Miku," I said.

"Oh, Yuuji."

"What are you doing?"

"I'm just borrowing books for reference."

I saw her hands holding three books. I couldn't tell, but they were definitely reference books.

"How about you?" she asked. "You haven't been in your home for the past week I've been there. Something holding you from school?"

I saw the tall girl waving at me from behind the reception desk. I wasn't sure if that indicated a "please wait while I finish up," or just a normal greeting. Nevertheless, I waved back, and Miku saw it.

She turned her back on me, and saw the source of who I was waving to.

The girl turned her gaze downward as she slowly lowered her hand when she saw Miku's gaze.

"Oh, new friend?" she asked the girl, which the girl probably assumed it was me being asked. Of course, knowing her anxiety with talking to strangers, even though I knew that Miku was talking to her full well, I still answered.

"I don't think so. We're just acquaintances."

"Pretty suspicious if you ask me."

"Why?"

"I wouldn't just forget about you being friends with one of the Three Deadly beauties, nor will I forget about the girl that beat one of the Three Deadly Beauties," she said.

Right. Those were circumstances that could make me suspicious.

It feels like I'm not going to get out of this one. It may be true that the girl and I are just close acquaintances, but Miku is pretty stubborn about pretty random things.

"It's probably also no secret that you're friends with the Ice Queen, Suzune Satou."

"…"

What…

"What did you just say?"

***

Did you ever feel like running away?

Run away from your troubles, all because all they do is cause you problems for your life? Run away from the people that you hate, especially the ones that hurt you or your friends? Or perhaps even run away from your life, because it just feels like there's absolutely no reason to live?

How about we look for a bright reason for running away? Let's talk about mine.

I wanted to run away from the person that I absolutely hated, which I thought, but is just an exaggeration. Matter of fact, I actually thought of that person as a friend.

This, of course, started back in junior high. The person that I hated was a girl, as usual. She was, well, let's just say that comparing both Rin Satou and her, they were pretty much polar opposites. Rin Satou back then(or according to Miku's analogy), was a calm and quiet girl, while the girl that I met was pretty eccentric.

They both shared one thing in common though. They were both Satou's: Rin Satou and Suzune Satou.

That Suzune Satou was a pretty cheerful and outgoing person, in her third-year back when I met her, making her a year older than me. While that in all could've earn her some points, that fact that she's rude, especially using some sort of tone to other people and always having twitched eyebrows whenever she was talking was a huge deduction.

Well, putting all those aside, her figure and face, and especially her long and flowing black hair, was a sight to behold, even if it's just me who thinks that. Well, it's not like I was the only person who thought about that. After all, that Suzune Satou had a boyfriend.

…Well, they broke up after a few months though. And it wasn't the boyfriend's fault, but rather, Suzune Satou's fault to begin with.

That's the time when I saw her.

It was in my second-year of junior high, and I just happened to pass by a classroom while going to the literature club, since I was part of it that time, together with Akiko Tanaka-senpai and Ayane Matsumoto-senpai. Expect they've already graduated as first-years of my current senior high, so I was pretty much left in charge of the club.

It was in the third-year classrooms. Someone was making such a ruckus in one of the empty classrooms that the seniors had just finished using for classes, and it could pretty much be heard from the hallways of where I passing.

When I went to the room of where the sound was coming from and opened the door, what greeted me was a chair flying my way, which I immediately evaded. The chair hit the wall, and the hallway reverberated the sound of the chair slamming against the wall. I'm surprised it wasn't destroyed yet.

"Whoa!" I said.

When I looked inside the room, it was a complete mess. Tons of chairs and tables were scattered around, making a huge mess. And in the middle of it all, a single girl.

She was wearing an angry expression while also assuming a pose that had just thrown something, which she actually did. She was breathing rather heavily and sweating a lot.

"…Who the heck are you?" she asked.

I was in a state of absolute surprise, and my heartbeat was a little faster due to almost being hit by a flying chair. Even so, I tried coming up with words that would prevent provoking the ultimate entity that could potentially bring me to my demise, also known as Suzune Satou.

"I'm Yuuji Akamatsu. I just happened to pass by a crazy girl, and so I'm going out to try not to interfere with her business. Have a good day."

"Ha?"

Yeah, I'm definitely dead after I said those words.

"Who're you callin' a crazy girl?!"

She picked up one of the chairs with such strength that I'm questioning myself whether I'm really talking to a woman or not.

"W-W-W-Wait! We can talk this out!"

"Like heck!"

She threw it at me, and this time, instead of hitting the wall in the hallway, it hit the door from where I came from. I immediately closed it so as to not attract any teachers and pull in more problems. After she threw it, I just evaded it like I did earlier.

"Please stop! I'm still not ready to die yet!"

"Shut your crap!"

She threw yet another chair, and this time, it was about to hit me.

Oh crap!

When it was about in my face, I lost consciousness.
