When they returned, they were able to have a short nap before the next workday continued. Nothing was different.
Henry kept the same pace while moving raw mana stones out of the mine. He had become well respected among the miners. His leisurely appearance while doing more work than they could without tiring himself earned their admiration.
It was the fourth day since Henry and Felicia started working in the mines. The new recruits arrived that day, and the productivity of the mine increased. Everyone was happy, especially since Felicia's cooking was top-notch.
Just like that, three more days passed, and they had already spent a week working as miners. The foreman's attitude was one of respect. He was joyous when he conversed with them.
"Foreman, we need to leave tomorrow," Henry mentioned as they spoke.
"..."
The foreman widened his eyes, and a despaired look appeared on his face.
"W-Why?"
He was flabbergasted. He thought back to these few days and looked through if someone did a disservice to the two.
"We aren't looking to be miners for the rest of our lives," Henry answered. He looked into the foreman's eyes.
The foreman was stunned for a bit, and realization dawned in his eyes. He looked at Henry apologetically and bowed.
"I understand. I will inform the City Guild today and have them hire a mother who's willing to cook for us."
The old foreman looked aged at this moment. Ultimately, he knew that this place wasn't suitable for someone of Henry's age. A young man ought to dream of a better future, and this wasn't the place.
"Thank you. I will come back in the future." Henry mysteriously smiled.
The foreman was confused. Henry turned around and left to find his mother.
Today, he decided to rest. No one came to disturb him as he did a lot of work, and they were more than enough to cover for his rest today.
He found Felicia, and she was smiling and humming while cooking a large pot of food. There were logs cut down for firewood around her, which she occasionally shoved under the stove.
"Mother, we will leave tomorrow," Henry said.
"Already?"
Felicia was getting used to this life. She would learn magic every other night and get praised for her cooking daily. It was a blissful life.
"This is just the start of our journey." Henry smiled at her.
Felicia nodded and replied, "Did they get a replacement for me already?"
"The foreman is sending someone to request the City Guild to send a mother to replace you."
Henry looked amused as he finished speaking. Even Felicia chuckled a bit and shook her head.
"If that's so, we can go anywhere you want. I also want to… become stronger and destroy the mental demon, as you have told me."
The Mental Demon Felicia talked about was the hobgoblin that raped her. She still had occasional nightmares that disturbed her sleep. She would only sleep soundly when she saw Henry sleeping near her.
As such, she viewed Henry as her safety. Without him, she would feel a sense of impending doom, wondering if the hobgoblin was outside.
Henry knew this too. She was able to quickly recover because it only lasted one night. If it went on for longer, she would have truly lost her Lively Spirit and become a walking shell of a human.
"Once you become a High-class magus, we can come back and search for it. I will let you kill it on your own," Henry said.
He was confident in her. She was his disciple. If she failed to kill the hobgoblin as a High-class magus, it would be his failure as the master.
In actuality, he was sure that it was possible to kill the hobgoblin as a Low-class magus. He was only worried that she would fail and break her Lively Spirit again.
The Lively Spirit is an innate part of the soul. It gives life to the soul. Without it, the soul will become empty and passive.
Felicia took a deep breath and nodded her head with a sharp look in her eyes.
She continued cooking and became silent. She couldn't help but remember the hobgoblin again.
Henry accompanied her for a bit longer and left once he saw that she didn't suffer a panic attack.
He sat alone in the hut. He sat cross-legged and closed his eyes.
He visualized the mana in his hands. The rest of his body had virtually no mana. Whenever he inhaled mana, they would head to his hands and move the territory of his mana toward his arms for a tiny bit.
This was the path of the magic system Henry practiced in the past. To reach the Low-class, one needed to fill their whole body with mana.
This would not only allow the magus to create spells with their hands but would also allow any part of their body to be used to create spells.
In one of Henry's unnecessary memories he recovered, there was a man who used his d!ck to cast spells. He was known as the "Flaccid Magus" by those who encountered his odd spellcasting, but everyone knew he was more than flaccid.
It was also the charm of the magic system of Henry's era. All the magi avoided getting too close to any body part of their opponents. Otherwise, they would find an unexpected spell heading their way.
The path of magic had infinite roads. The magic system of the present should be extremely different from what Henry's era had.
Henry had high hopes that it would be better than his past era. If it were, he would not hesitate to start over again.
For now, he needed power and wealth to touch the information regarding the whole magic system. Plebs at the bottom of the magic system would not know the highest level.
As such, his goal was to become stronger until he could travel to a distant land with magi at that level. By his calculations, a High-class magus should be powerful enough if he was careful.
