Henry was very satisfied with Felicia. Every human had the talent to become a magus. It was up to their mindset how far they would reach.
Some would stop at Simple-class because of some other reason, and others would try to reach as high as they could. Sometimes even sacrificing their family for the sake of it.
All in all, it was up to their mindset. A steady mind would allow one to reach higher and higher, step by step. Instead of rushing to do things and not truly understanding the essence.
As he thought of those things, Henry's breathing slowed down, and he fell asleep.
Henry floated high up in the sky, making the ground below indistinguishable from vision.
He held a powerful staff in his hand. It shimmered with the seven colors of red, green, blue, yellow, purple, white, and black.
The seven elements of nature reached harmony as Henry channeled his mana into the staff. They mixed together into a golden color that illuminated Henry's surroundings.
Meanwhile, chaos and destruction spread below. Flashes of spells continued appearing. The wind churned as massive amounts of mana were consumed by the countless spells.
"Henry Cloudseeker, your fame precedes you."
A blurry figure said calmly. He was also surrounded by powerful waves of pure mana.
"What have you heard about me?" Henry asked, not bothered by the power the other party amassed.
"Ahahahaha! The Genius Magus of Sparkasm! If only you had a better magic system, you would have reached a level above!"
The voice was filled with ridicule and sneering. Henry was furious, but he controlled his emotions.
"Is that so?"
…
Henry opened his eyes and saw a pair of eyes staring at him close.
"Were you dreaming again?" Felicia asked with concern.
A sharp pain hit Henry's head like a nail lodged into his skull and pierced his brain. It made him unable to speak as he gritted his teeth.
"Are you okay?"
The pain subsided, and Henry was able to look at Felicia. Her eyes were full of concern as she crouched in front of his bed.
"I'm fine."
Henry turned away and closed his eyes again.
Felicia was curious and worried at the same time. "I'll be here to help." She sat on her bed and waited.
The flood of memories confused Henry. Many of them were unnecessary, but they were still his memories.
The battle he saw in his dream was a memory before he was on his deathbed. He couldn't remember who his opponent was, but he knew where he came from.
Other magi invaded his homeland and tried to recruit all the magi and change the magic system. Very few pledged their loyalty and most risked their lives to protect their world from invasion.
Henry couldn't remember if they had succeeded when he chanted the spell. That part was still a mystery for him.
The memories pieced together increased Henry's vision of the world. He finally understood why he was on the verge of death before.
A tear escaped Henry's eye and dropped to the bed. It splattered and made a mark that would disappear once it dried.
It was like the people he loved. They were all lost to time. Their lives were gone, and their graves were erased from existence.
Henry wiped his teary eyes and calmed his surging emotions.
Among those memories were his family and some people he spent a lot of time with. The emotions he had for them came back and caused him to shed a single tear.
Normally, he'd never shed a tear. His mental was solid because of the level he had reached in the past.
"Master?"
Felicia was stunned after seeing the hint of red in his eyes.
"Let's go."
Henry left the hut ahead of her. He didn't dare look at Felicia in the eyes.
In those memories were his memories with his eldest disciple, and Felicia reminded him of him.
Felicia sensed the difference in Henry. She looked at him from afar and saw the dazed look he would have on his face from time to time.
As his mother, she wanted to go and ask, but her status as his disciple stopped her. She felt agony because of it.
The sun rose and fell, and nighttime came again. Henry drifted through the night with Felicia. They both had swirls of wind silencing their footsteps.
They crossed the river where they became magi and ran to the other side. The forest stretched to this area and continued onwards to the horizon.
They found a clearing and stopped.
Henry gazed at Felicia and straightened his posture.
"I want to see you cast the seven elements."
Henry sat on top of a fallen tree trunk.
"Yes, Master." Felicia solemnly responded.
She stood at the center and closed her eyes. She relaxed her breathing and calmed her rapidly beating heart.
She sensed the mana in her hands and lifted her right hand. She waved it, and a bright breath of fire spread forward.
It reached a meter before fading into nothing.
Felicia stared at the spot where the fire appeared in a daze. A sense of power enveloped her whole body.
It wasn't just a dream. She was not a commoner anymore. Henry had transformed her into a magus, able to command the world through mana.
She looked over at Henry, her master, and waited in anticipation for his comment.
Henry rubbed his chin in thought.
"The quality of your spell is mediocre. You need to think deeper, calculate with your mind, and imagine harder."
Henry stood up and casually waved his hand.
The same breath of fire appeared, but it expanded and spread over a large area. It had the same amount of mana input, but he utilized the reaction of fire with the surrounding air to increase its efficiency.
Felicia bowed to Henry. She respected him even more.
The feeling of power within her vanished, and she felt humbled. She still had a lot of things to learn and improve on.
"Continue," Henry said and sat back down.
