Chapter 19 - Chapter 19

"This gentleman is?" Yun Jiaolong's gentle tone was now dark with unknown emotions that Bàolì Hua who is a snake couldn't understand. She merely stepped out from Jiǎndān Yìzé's shadow to stare at Yun Jiaolong.

Her peach blossom eyes meet Yun Jiaolong's and her little lips open to say, "It is none of your concern, Gentleman Yun."

The male in yellow froze before his silver eyes narrowed down at her slender form. She stood next to Jiǎndān Yìzé giving people a sense of harmony with their green and white tunics matching slightly. Their height difference was admirable with her small head reaching Jiǎndān Yìzé's chest.

Yun Jiaolong sneered behind his fan not liking this scene. His twisted heart wanted to break this harmony that gave him a bitter taste on his tongue. His silver eyes glanced at Bàolì Hua deeply.

A glint passed through his eyes before he closed his fan with a crisp snap. "Okay, little miss… until we meet again," his voice was low and Bàolì Hua merely rolled her eyes.

"I do not wish to see you, Gentleman Yun," Bàolì Hua stated blandly and the male in the yellow Hanfu laughed lightly, "That would be wishful thinking, little miss."

"If Lady Chun doesn't wish to see you, you shouldn't overstep your boundaries," Jiǎndān Yìzé spoke up.

Yun Jiaolong turned to watch him. His silver eyes were dark with conflicting emotions, "I never remembered asking this gentleman to join our conversation."

Jiǎndān Yìzé sneered, his tiger teeth showing briefly, "Lady Chun is under my protection! So, no rogue gentleman with ill intent will approach her under my watch!"

Yun Jiaolong's brows rose in thought, "Pretentious."

Jiǎndān Yìzé glared at him.

Yun Jiaolong opened his fan, fanning his face. He flicked his sleeves before leaving. However, his silver eyes sent one long glance towards Bàolì Hua who ignored him. Her peach blossom eyes were watching Jiǎndān Yìzé with interest.

Gloom formed between his brows and Yun Jiaolong left, his long black hair flowing lightly. Jiǎndān Yìzé watched long after the male in yellow disappeared before turning towards Bàolì Hua.

"Did he use to bother you?" He asked, concern spreading in his eyes and Bàolì Hua simply shook her head, not saying anything. She bowed her head looking at the green fan in her hand thoughtfully.

However, in Jiǎndān Yìzé's eyes. It seems that this maiden in green was suffering from great grievances. Her head of black hair was bowed as she looked down at the fan that almost had the same design as the male in yellow before.

Jiǎndān Yìzé raised his hand wanting to pat her head but a strong spiritual energy attacked his mind making his hand drop. Jiǎndān Yìzé looked around with caution. Seeing, no one suspicious, he frowned before turning towards the female in green before him.

"Lady Chun," his voice was low and filled with hidden affections. "Don't worry, I will protect you."

Bàolì Hua who was thinking of murdering that pretentious fake gentleman surnamed Yun: "…"

She looked up at the male in white, who watched her with soft eyes filled with tenderness. That weird look made her blink, she wondered what this foolish human soul in front of her was thinking.

Her eyes flashed with disgust before she looked away from Jiǎndān Yìzé.

Yet, Jiǎndān Yìzé thought she was shy and touched. His dark eyes overflowed with tenderness watching the female in green.

Poor Bàolì Hua was misunderstood. Hence, when Heng Xīnyán exited the carpentry shop, Jiǎndān Yìzé's eyes which were overflowing with tenderness, clear again and he turned to smile at the female in pink.

His eyes were pure and clear. Bright like the full moon. Confused, Heng Xīnyán struggled to smile back at him. She picked up on the heavy atmosphere between the two.

Her siren-shaped eyes turned to Bàolì Hua and she walked out to her. Holding her arm, she muttered, "Mèimei are you, okay? What happened?"

Bàolì Hua's peach blossom eyes turned to Heng Xīnyán. "Nothing Jiějiě. I'm fine," she stated, she glanced at Jiǎndān Yìzé lightly before looking down.

To Jiǎndān Yìzé, it seems like Lady Chun wanted him to keep silent and not tell her older sister about that rogue gentleman who was troubling her. Feeling warm at the trust she had in him, Jiǎndān Yìzé smiled softly in Bàolì Hua's direction. His heart ached at her hidden grievances and he made an oath to protect this pure lady in front of him.

"Okay, gentleman Jiǎndān Yìzé," Heng Xīnyán started, "Let's go to meet Yīnchén Ài."

Jiǎndān Yìzé shook his head, "No, Lady Chun isn't feeling well."

Heng Xīnyán turned to watch Bàolì Hua who frowned.

"I am feeling okay," Bàolì Hua stated, a furrow in her brows.

"No… You should go home and rest," Jiǎndān Yìzé insisted.

Heng Xīnyán: "…" What the fuck did I miss?

Her siren-shaped eyes observed Jiǎndān Yìzé. Seeing his eyes which were like a block of melted ice watching Bàolì Hua. She rolled her eyes heavily, "Mèimei is feeling fine, gentleman Jiǎndān Yìzé."

The male in white looked at her. Heng Xīnyán watched as his eyes changed when they turned towards her and she tsked in her heart.

"But…" Jiǎndān Yìzé wanted to speak. Yet, Heng Xīnyán raised her hand saying, "Gentleman Jiǎndān Yìzé. Mèimei is my sister, so I know whether or not she is feeling well or not. You are just a stranger with a sweetheart who hired us to get rid of a maiden. So, please put your affections elsewhere."

Heng Xīnyán stressed on the word 'sweetheart' and Jiǎndān Yìzé paled. Yet, he unwillingly took his eyes off of Bàolì Hua. However, hostility towards Heng Xīnyán was born.

"This way towards Yīnchén Ài's usual hangout." His voice was cold and he walked forward ignoring Heng Xīnyán who looked at his back with a sneer.

"Yes gentleman Jiǎndān Yìzé," Heng Xīnyán responded and the male in white didn't even glance at her. His eyes sent a fleeting glance towards Bàolì Hua in green.

Her head was still lowered with her eyes looking at the fan in her hand. His heart ached seeing her hidden grievance, his lips curled into a frown and he moved at a fast pace. Hoping to meet Yīnchén Ài's usual hangout shop faster so that Bàolì Hua could rest her tired legs.

Heng Xīnyán was speechless.

Poor Bàolì Hua was misunderstood as well as turned into someone's unrequited crush.

They walked for a while. The villagers seemed to know Jiǎndān Yìzé as many of them called his name while he walked. Jiǎndān Yìzé just responded with a smile in their direction. His eyes continuously tried to glance at Bàolì Hua who was behind him.

He wanted to make it look like a coincidence. However, it was so obvious. Heng Xīnyán watched this fool perform in front of her with blank eyes. 'Human souls are so stupid,' she thought.

Jiǎndān Yìzé wanted to make a pure-like impression on Bàolì Hua but his face cracked when a sweet coy voice called his name affectionately.

Heng Xīnyán's lips twitched and Bàolì Hua looked up.
