Chereads / The Wicked Magical Girl / Chapter 48 - Olivia Johnston

Chapter 48 - Olivia Johnston

During the Witch's Duel, Olivia Johnston and Makayla Laveaux are walking around Chicago with Olivia's Familiar Johnny, and with Dorothy's Familiar Darien.

Olivia has her Chicago's ball cap on with a ponytail through the back, white shirt, tight jeans with her jacket tied and hanging on the back, heels, and bubblegum chewing.

Makayla is wearing sunglasses, crop top graffiti shirt and low cut shorts, socks and sneakers, and a vest.

"Ms. Johntson, I was wondering on how does it feel to be at your old stomping grounds?" Darien asks while leaning down on Makayla's shoulders.

Johnny answered on his Master behalf, "Not a good time to ask that. Since we're both from Chi-Town, but unlike me, she had to learn the ropes since it had changed from her time period."

"It must had been an interesting time, as your Master must had been one tough girl." Darien seems curious.

Olivia is ignoring their talking as she remembers her time period on seeing the 50's again, in a bright colorful vision.

~

Olivia was dressed as a shy, clean looking girl who's wearing a long checkered skirt. Slippers. Headband. Tight button-up shirt.

Looking around all with a silent smile as she's shy and nervous about everything.

Walking into a small joint as she's waiting in line. Olivia look to see a small gang of greasers who's showing off his switchblade that resemble her Wand, just minus the gemstones.

Ignoring him but slightly found him attractive as she's blushes. She walk up to the counter to order a milkshake while showing her happy expression.

Looking around to see a small booth at a corner. Walking up to sit in it to enjoy her milkshake. Seeing everyone is enjoying their time at the joint as they're playing 50's music.

Smiling down at the milkshake as she's seeing the same greaser again.

"Ms. Johnston." An older looking women appears in front of her, as she's sitting across of her.

"Oh!" Olivia have a soft spoken voice. "Um, Mrs. Black. How is your day?" A well dressed women of the 50's.

She have a teacher's position at the local school.

"How's your summer?" She asks Olivia as she seem to be nervous.

"It only started but I am planning on going to library to see if we have anything on fairy tales."

"Fairy tales? For what for, may I ask?"

"It's just something I tend to love to read. I mostly love the idea of princesses finding a prince and falling in love." Olivia have such high hopes of such idea world.

"What story are you planning on reading?"

"Beauty and the Beast." Happily said it as she seem on wanting to read it.

"Ah! La Belle et la Bete." Mrs. Black spoke it in perfect French.

Olivia seem to be surprised and happy of hearing it from a fluent French speaker.

"You can speak French?"

"I've been trying to get the Chicago Board of Education on making it part of the system, but been denied."

"Oh, really?" Olivia went blue after hearing that. "I would love to learn the language. It sounds romantic."

"It is. But I've been looking for something a little flair that appeals more... sexually."

"Oh my!" Olivia seem to have a heart attack over hearing such word. "You shouldn't say that word."

"Oh, sorry." She gives out a childish cackled. "It's that some of my friends seem to have fun with other people of color."

"Heaven to Betsy!" Olivia over dramatic feint on hearing such taboo thought. She stood up and lean closer to Mrs. Black. "Isn't that illegal? Having relationship with those people?"

"Illegal? Having fun and knowing other people shouldn't be illegal people. Granted, there are unsavory people out there, but how can you know a person without understanding them?"

Olivia seem to be uncomfortable of the idea. "Well the idea is just... so wrong, but your words are right as rain." Buried her face as she seem embarrassed of the thought.

Mrs. Black giggle over Olivia embarrassment. "So why you wanna read La Belle et la Bete? And which version?"

"Version?" Olivia open her hands. "I didn't there's different versions."

"Oh yeah. I them in my book collection. I have the original release of the Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve from the Young American and Marine Tales. Unless you want the Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont in 1756 with is an abridged version of Gabrielle-Suzanne in the Children's Collection. Or the 1889 Blue Fairy Book by Andrew Lang. Take your pick." Mrs. Black seem proud of her collection.

Olivia seem to stutter of the names, outside of Andrew, she have her tongue tied on attempting on saying their names.

"Don't tie your tongue, Ollie. Or else a cat might take it. Just say the what year, but I will warn you, they are in a delicate state."

"Well, guess I can take the original then the Jean-Mary..."

"Jeanne-Marie" Corrected Ollie.

"Oh, I apologize." She nervously drink her milkshake with a little smug on the side cheek.

"It's alright. Common to those who can't say it on the first try." Mrs. Black wipe the smug away with a napkin. "And sure, just swing by grab a read. Or else you want to read it at the library?"

"Library sounds perfect to read something that's meant to be a romantic tale." Olivia seem to have a hopeless romantic aura around her that Mrs. Black seem to smile at her.

"With that smile, you can be a Witch who can lure the poor unfortunate souls into their doom." Gives out a cackled.

"Perish the thought!" Olivia seem to melt over the thought. "I'm not a wicked, vile villain who takes pleasure on luring those to their ends."

"This isn't the Drama Class, Ollie. You don't have to be dramatic."

"Sorry, but I do tend to give out a performance of a lifetime. I, the star of the show." Ollie seem to be happy of her voice as she has an Angelic voice as she gives out a harmony.

"Should sign up for a singing contest. You're the most lovely, well-read, and the kindest person to have a pure of heart." Mrs. Black complimented her.

"Thank you." Olivia smiles nervously, then noticed the greaser smiling and waves at her.

She gives out a finger waving motion which lead Mrs. Black confused then quickly put it together.

"I wouldn't fall in love, just yet, Ollie."

"Oh? I think he seems nice." Defends him. "And he has a little brother, like me. And they're the best of friends there."

"Just because they're friends, doesn't mean you two have to get hitched." She pulls out a pack of smokes, from a cigarette case with gemstones on it.

"This is non-smoking place."

"Quite so." She put away her case.

"But that's a lovely case you have there." Complimented her case.

Mrs. Black smiles then grins. "Thank you. Would you like to have one of your own?" She asked.

"Not a cigarette case, and such lovely gemstones but why are they on the case?"

"One day, I'll tell you my secret." Gives out a wink and a smile. She does her childish cackled as she walk out of the joint.

Mrs. Black make her way out of the joint as Olivia is looking back, as the greaser walk up to her.

"Hey, sweet Ollie. How are you doing?" He asked politely.

"Oh, very well." Nervously replies.

"So watcha doing, afterwards?" He sat next to her.

"Going to the library, to read a book. But first I need to go to Mrs. Black place first. To pick it up. You?" She asked him.

"Me and the gang here, are planning on going out to check out the movies. To sneak in, and maybe do some little fun." He smiled but quickly got embarrassed. "Sorry."

"It's alright. Boys will be boys." She gives out a smile, then a giggle.

"Perhaps we should go out for a walk?" He suggest. "I would like to get to know you a bit better, since I heard you singing at the play."

"Oh, that was nothing. It's just something I do, for fun." He smiled at the last bit, as Olivia is oblivious. "But I would love for that walk."

Both of them got up. He gives her his leather jacket as his gang follows them.

"Don't worry about the boys here, they'll be like our little bodyguards." He said to ease her tension.

Olivia and the greaser are walking down the same street as the modern version is doing.

"Let's say if we can take a stroll here? It's a shortcut to Mrs. Black's home." The greaser look back to his crew as they're following them.

Gave them a wink and a grin with sinister undertones behind it.

Olivia stops at the clean alleyway...

~

Shaking her head as she's seeing the modern day in her vision. Looking down into the modern alleyway, a dirty alleyway unlike what it was before.

Holding her coffee that she somewhat had order from whatever cafe building they must had entered during her walk into memory lane.

To Olivia as she sees the alleyway, she saw blood of Magical Vigilantes with herself having such cruel breathing, selfish demeanor, vain expression, and jealous rage on her eyes.

Makayla look at her then in the alleyway. Slightly tap her to break her out of it.

"What happen here?"

Olivia turn to her, knowing that she's safe and feel comfortable with her. "Just the day I turn into a Witch." Gives out a childish cackled that Sandra Black used to do, but broken.
