Chereads / Plunder, Improve, and Amalgamate / Chapter 2 - The Inferior Goblin Tower (1)

Chapter 2 - The Inferior Goblin Tower (1)

Upon arriving at the dungeon, I immediately began running down the hallway, my sword in hand. Although I didn't look like much, I was actually quite athletic, and I was fairly proficient with the sword. I was even able to defeat many swordmasters in pure swordsmanship. Of course, that is only when they didn't suppressed the strength they got from being awakened.

Within just a few seconds of running, I caught sight of the first enemy;

Small, light green colored skin, and a face that only a mother could love. Goblins, these things were goblins. Not even ordinary goblins, but an inferior one that those from a true goblin species would look down upon.

"Criiik!" The monster let out a cry the moment it noticed me, and, with its club, rushed at me in pure rage. Despite its small stature, this goblin actually packed a punch. Its strength was not inferior in the slightest to an average human.

Of course, that didn't mean it stood a chance against me. I was already too used to this dungeon, and have killed many of these goblins.

I dodged the attack of the goblin fairly easily, and dodged its second attack, and its third... To be completely honest, goblins are quite predictable. If one had an ounce of experience, they could easily dodge all of their attacks with no problem.

"Goodbye," I muttered, and with one effortless slash from my sword-

*Swish!*

I cleanly cut off the head of the goblin as it tried to attack me. I put my sword in its sheath, and examined the body of the now dead goblin.

...Nothing happened. What is this? Does this goblin not have any skills whatsoever?

Although the idea was a bit astonishing to me, I guess I should've expected it. Why would a low level inferior goblin even have a skill? I don't recall them using any type of skill whatsoever in my entirety of clearing this dungeon.

"Damn it. Oh well, I guess the Inferior Goblin King at least has a skill." I tried to reassure myself, and calmly struck the goblin's chest. In the chest of every monster, there was a [Core]. These cores, once broken, would turn into golden orbs that one could use to enhance any of their stats, or buy powerful skills with them instead of using ordinary money. The majority of the powerful skills that one could purchase could only be brought with golden orbs. However, those who didn't awaken couldn't use these cores, and wouldn't gain anything if they broke it. The only thing they could do is sell them.

The moment I felt something hard touch my sword, I smiled. The cores of inferior goblins were pitiful, but they were still better than nothing.

I took out my sword, and tried reaching for the core. However, the moment I touched the Goblin's body with my hand-

[Detected you have killed , your innate skill is activating...]

[Gained ]

My eyes widened at the content of the interface, and I was stunned for a few moments. Then, I felt an immense amount of excitement well up inside of me.

This guy had a skill on him!

With joy, I checked the description of the goblin's- no, MY new skill.

[Name: The Novice of Clubs

Rank: F-

Description: Attack speed with clubs are multiplied by 2.

Experience Gained: 0.00%]

It was a fairly short description, and the rank of the skill was only at F-. Still, it made me incomparably happy. The effects weren't something out of the world, but they were still great!

Immediately, I went and picked up the club of the goblin. This new skill didn't improve my combat skills with a club, otherwise, I would've probably had something like "Swordsmanship Proficiency". It wasn't like the magical spells where you gain the knowledge on how to use them. Still, even though I wasn't good with a club, a 2 times attack speed buff cannot be ignored!

I happily swung the club, and immediately noticed the difference. The club wasn't really that heavy, and even without my new skill, it still probably would've been almost as fast as my sword. But now, it was clearly far faster.

"Hell yeah!" I shouted with joy, not caring if any other goblin could hear me. I could already clear this dungeon without any skills, and now, if you add in my new skill, then it would be incomparably easier!

After happily swinging my club a few times, I heard the sound of more goblins.

"Criiiiik!" A group of 3 goblins appeared from the darkness, and were approaching me at a rather fast speed, but I didn't panic. Instead, I felt rather happy. I could test this new skill out!

I calmly picked up the core of the first goblin I killed, and then put it in my backpack as the goblins were closing in on me.

"Criiii!" With a weird roar of some sort, one of the goblins- a bit larger and faster than the other two- jumped at me, and swung its club at me.

Like the first time, I dodged it with easy, and, with a huge grin on my face, I swung my club at its head.

*BONK!*

With a loud bonk, the goblin bit its tongue the moment my club had made impact, and it instantly lost consciousness. Of course, that didn't mean it was dead. With another swift swing, the goblin let out a wail before dying.

"Wow, it's really fast!" I blurted out in amazement as I stared at my club. It was way faster compared to the sword! Of course, I would've appreciated if I got a skill for my swordsmanship, but it is what it is.

"Cra...?" The goblins immediately stopped when they saw me killing their leader, and there was uncertainty in their eyes.

"Hey," I calmly said to the remaining goblins, a huge smile on my face, "It's you guys turn now."

"Cri...?" The goblins let out a confused sound, and before they could do anything else, I ran at them and swung my club.

*BONK!* *BONK!*

In took only a few seconds for me to kill the remaining goblins. They were weaker than their leader, and it only took a single strike to each of them to instantly kill them.

Happily, I lightly touched both of the shoulders of the dead goblins, expecting a skill. But, much to my dismay, I didn't get anything. I was a bit saddened by this, but I guess that was to be expected. These 2 were weaker than the first goblin I killed, and their leader, too.

I took out their cores in just a few seconds, and then went to their "leader". This one definitely had a skill on him, I'm sure.

The moment I touched his shoulder, my theory turned out to be correct;

[Gained ]

[Gained ]

[Detected you gained a skill you already have. Your Innate skill is activating...]

[Your skill had gained experience]

I was a bit shocked by the many notification the interface showed me. Not only did I get a new skill, but I also seemed to have gotten the same skill I had before. Instead of just discarding it, my innate skill turned it into experience!

I felt my hand shake a bit due to the excitement I felt, and in an instant, I checked my skill. Nothing was out of the ordinary with the exception of the experience section. It had actually increased by over 30%! Typically, raising the experience of a skill needed you to train it constantly, but not here! I could easily gain experience and level this skill up easily!

Isn't this... absurdly powerful?! If I continue to farm this dungeon, then wouldn't my power soar through the sky?

I reigned in my emotions, and, with shaky hands, I checked my newly acquired skill;

[Name: Weak Regeneration

Rank: F-

Description: Passively heal non-threatening wound at a much faster rate.

Restrictions: Regenerating saps away your stamina]

Although I wanted to shout yet again, I managed to suppress the urge to do it. Although this skill didn't seem strong, and even sapped away my stamina whenever I healed, it was still extraordinary! Based on the news I have read, this skill is able to heal normal cuts in a mere minute! Now, if I trained it and upgraded it...

I shuddered at the thought. With a shaky sigh, I got the goblin leader's core and put it in my backpack. I still had many floors I need to go through. I was still at the first floor, and this dungeon had 10 floors.

I began to run as fast as I could to the end of the hallway, where there was a huge stair case. I had a huge grin on my face that, if anyone saw my face, they would think I'm a weirdo. But I didn't care about that, for I knew I wouldn't meet any other person here. Every dungeon run was separated, and even if 10 people used the dungeon at the same time, they wouldn't meet each other. That was the magic of the dungeon.

Currently, there was only one thing on my wind;

When I finish this dungeon, how strong would I be?
