Chapter 98 - Hark

Fragments of fine china and spilt tea litter the metal floor.

"It… It can't be…" The Lady of Tokyo clutches at her heart. The seal keeping Alexi at bay, it's been broken. Who would even be insane enough to do that?

Her assistants approach her, their voices all mixing together.

"Are you alright?"

"My lady?"

"She's hyperventilating."

"Pupils dilating."

"Increased heart rate detected."

"Give her some space."

It feels like her heart is going to burst out of her chest. All she can hear is her heartbeat. The world around her fades away. She feels herself fall to the ground. No. Not again. She's not ready. She can't face her. But she also can't allow her to just run amok. Who knows how much hatred she has for the world after what she's been through? No, she has to be brave. She has to end this herself. It's simply how things are fated to be.

"Fetch–" The words freeze in her throat, she coughs to force them out. "Fetch me my scythe."

Through hazy eyes, she sees one of her assistants holding out her scythe. She grasps it with one hand and presses its bottom end against the floor, using it to prop herself up.

"Permission for full mobilization?" One of her attendants comments. Stupidly.

"Permission denied. A full-scale panic is the opposite of what we need." The Lady of Tokyo takes a few shaky steps towards the window. Bending to her will, the glass panels all fold inwards, sliding into the walls. The Lady of Tokyo plants her scythe on the ground before extending her hands to her sides. Floating metal wings made of hovering shards of silver sprout from her back, vibrating with purpose as they gently lift the Lady of Tokyo off the ground.

"I will deal with this personally."
