Now that there were no more secrets between them they had no reason to try to hide from each other. They knew though that it was only between them that they could be open. They still had to be careful when they were out in the town. They both knew that they had to stay true to themselves and to their relationship. They needed to stay strong and keep their relationship a secret. They needed to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings.
Mary wanted to take Roy to more places that had more people to get him more comfortable around big groups of people. So she took him to the supermarket and to the cafe when it was busy and even to the one restaurant in the town that had with her family.
Each time he told her he preferred the quiet library. So that is where they ended up spending most of their time. But of course she didn't mind that. She loved the sweet ladies in the library and she could even show him how she really used her magic.
Then one night May and Eva took him to the woodland to introduce him to the fairy family. Where they danced and played around him. He loved every moment of it and wondered if there was fairies in the wood near him.
Then one quiet Sunday morning, they were reading books in the library. The sweet old librarians came up to them.
"Hello you two. Are you enjoying the books?" one asked and they both looked at her.
"Yes," they replied, more or less. "Good! I'm glad," she said with a smile. "I remember when I was your age, I used to get so lost in books. I'm so glad you're loving them." She winked.
"That's great," the other agreed, "but we may need you to stop for a second as we may need your help with something." they told them, closing the books for them.
But they didn't quite notice that. "What is it?" Mary asked looking at them, but Roy was looking at his book.
"If you would follow us, we will show you" they told them and turned to walk to the back of the library.
"Did you close my book?" Roy asked her quietly. But this confused her.
"no, I didn't touch your book." she replied. Roy stopped her.
"Are you sure? My book-" he got close and whispered in her ear. "My book just closed by itself and it wasn't you."
Then her eyes went wide as she thought about the book in her hand and hot at one moment it felt like it was spread open in her hand and at the next moment she was trying to grip it. Because it had been closed to her without her noticing.
She looked at the librarians who now stood by a door that she had never seen open before. They looked at them. She felt her heart racing as she realized that the book had been hidden from her, and that there was more to this library than anyone had told her. She felt a chill run down her spine as she realized she was in a place that she wasn't supposed to know about.
Then she got close to him. "Do you think the librarians have magic powers?" she whispered in Roy's ear. He shook his head as if he didn't know. But he was so curious to find out and so was Eva who had hid herself in a little hidden nook that Mary had made for her in a corner. She flew out into the openness of the quiet library.
"Evvvvaa, what are you doing?" she asked, shocked. "come back here before anyone else sees you." she demanded, the first time she had ever spoke like that to her.
"We can trust them Mary. Feel it in your heart. They are good people." she flew in front of Roy. "just ask the sword of Kollam. It will tell you, these are good people and they need our help." she told him.
"But I didn't bring my sword with me," he told her "That doesn't matter," she said. "Kollam's sword is with you." With a gesture she pointed a wave at him. "Just ask it."
"Then what's that?" she asked as she pointed over his shoulder. He turned to look and saw his sword leaning against the shelves of books.
He was shocked. He walked over to it and picked it up and it whispered him his ear. It remembered everything that had happened. It wouldn't tell him but knew that these people helped them greatly and now they needed their help.
"I heard that too." Mary told him and they turned to the door as more fairies joined them. "I don't know how they helped us but I want to be more like my best friend and be more helpful so I shall help them." Roy told her.
Mary took him by the hand. "I want to help them too as they need our help." she told him and together. Mary, Roy, the sword of Kollam and Eve and her fairies walked towards the door and their fate.
