Chapter 11 - Chapter 10: Meet

As she made her way towards the door, she couldn't help but marvel at the power of [serpent's gaze]. It was a formidable ability, one that had proved invaluable in extracting information and manipulating the minds of her adversaries.

However, as powerful as the ability was, Lu Zhi couldn't shake the sense of unease that accompanied its use. The idea of manipulating others, even for a just cause, weighed heavily on her conscience. She knew that with great power came great responsibility, and she vowed to use [serpent's gaze] sparingly and with the utmost care.

'Hehe. But I think it will really be interesting using this to scam those evil bosses of different bases in the future.' Lu Zhi laugh. This girl was giggling alone in the middle of dark road, a normal person will run into goosebumps if they witness this creepy scene.

"Hmm hmm hmm," Lu Zhi hummed to herself, lost in her thoughts after gathering the information she needed. She hadn't even noticed that it was already dark outside. Her mind was preoccupied with the revelations she had uncovered. Triggering her memories before the apocalypse had revealed a friend's confession, admitting that it was her family's plan to hand her over to the kidnappers to create chaos and disrupt her family.

In the depths of the dark and desolate road, Lu Zhi found herself lost in her thoughts, her mind tangled with the complexities of her past and the uncertainty of her future. Little did she know that she was not alone in the darkness, as a man walked quietly in the shadows, drawn to the inexplicable connection that bound them together.

His steps came to a sudden halt when he caught sight of her standing there, her presence ethereal and otherworldly. Her silky white hair cascaded around her, and her petite figure seemed to glow amidst the darkness. He couldn't help but marvel at the sight before him, almost mistaking her for a divine being descending from the heavens.

As he approached, he noticed the turmoil within her, the weight of her guilt and emotions threatening to engulf her. In a moment of panic and instinct, he rushed towards her without a second thought, his heart pounding in his chest.

Lu Zhi remained lost in her thoughts, oblivious to the world around her until she was enveloped in a warm embrace. The sudden contact snapped her out of her trance-like state, and she looked up in surprise, her silver eyes meeting his.

"You..." she managed to utter, her lips and pupils trembling with emotions that defied explanation. 'Its Him!'

"Zhizhi... my Zhizhi," he called her name, his voice filled with brokenness and fear, and it left her speechless.

Her hands, once clenched in frustration, gradually relaxed as she allowed him to hold her. She felt a mixture of emotions welling up inside her—confusion, relief, and a sense of belonging she last felt in her last time.

As if in response, he tightened his embrace, and she clutched onto his shirt, afraid that he might disappear from her life as abruptly as he had appeared.

Without warning, a broken cry escaped her lips, and the tears she had been holding back flowed freely. The man held her even closer, comforting her with a tenderness she hadn't known she needed.

Shen Lian felt her anguish. His heart twisted in pain as he listened to her heart-wrenching cry. Lu Zhi, a name feared and revered in the apocalypse, was known for her power, mysteriousness, and intelligence. People speculated endlessly about her identity, some claiming she was a boy while others said she was a girl. ShenLian had even sought her out at one point, intrigued by the idea of having such an enigmatic individual on his team. However, she had proven elusive, slipping through his fingers time and again. He smiled, recalling the effort he had put in to find her.

The weight of their shared suffering hung in the air, unspoken yet palpable. They stood together in the darkness, finding solace in each other's presence without the need for words.

As the minutes ticked by, the intensity of their emotions began to subside, and Lu Zhi's breathing steadied. He continued to hold her close, feeling her even breaths against his chest. He whispered, "Clean the surroundings," and the wind responded with a gentle breeze.

Gently lifting her up, Shen Lian carried her back to his car. He kissed her forehead tenderly and let her sit on his lap to make her more comfortable during the journey. As they drove, he couldn't help but stare at her peaceful face, a stark contrast to the fierce and feared persona she presented to the world. He leaned in and whispered softly in her ear, "From now on, you don't have to worry. You will see what you want the most—your family."

He couldn't bear to see her suffer any longer. He vowed to keep her safe and to make sure she was reunited with her family. As they drove towards her home, the night seemed to hold its breath, as if knowing that the fate of this extraordinary girl had just changed forever. And as Shen Lian held Lu Zhi in his arms, he felt an inexplicable connection to her, as if the universe itself had conspired to bring them together. Their destinies were now intertwined, and he was determined to protect her at all costs.
