Chereads / The Elven King And Me / Chapter 7 - Eldoria Continent

Chapter 7 - Eldoria Continent

Each elves possesses magic, which they consider a natural ability to be used without a second thought.

Even in the elves language, the concept of magic does not exist.

Perhaps it was the human misinterpretation of this concept, witnessing the torrent of rushing water brought forth by grand incantations and the terrifying instantaneous power capable of taking away vibrant life, that led to the birth of the term "magic" in human language.

However, elves perceive it merely as a skill, not for destruction, conquest, or slaughter, but as a means for peace and protection.

It's likely this differing understanding that fundamentally distinguishes human and elves magic.

After three years of effort, Ilodyer finally began to comprehend and utilize magic to a certain extent.

Being able to pick up that white bow and shoot arrows already brought a sense of satisfaction, even though he couldn't wield it as effortlessly as The Elven King.

Nonetheless, he felt rather accomplished.

When Ilodyer turned sixteen, he started to contemplate meeting his biological mother. He began to feel that if he continued to stay in this realm, his biological mother would likely have deteriorated to mere bones.

In the beautiful realm of the elves, time seemed imperceptible unless one consciously paid attention to it.

Dividing life based on time, although a human vice, was something Ilodyer couldn't change, despite having both human and elves lineage.

His soul had traversed from the 21st century, and human habits were ingrained.

At thirteen, he began sharing a room with The Elven King, a requirement put forth by the king himself, perhaps an attempt by parents to encourage their offspring to gain independence earlier, which Ilodyer didn't exactly embrace.

His room was arranged similarly to The Elven King. Strangely, the only entrance to his room was through The Elven King room, meaning one had to pass through the king chamber to return to his own.

Ilodyer had protested this design, but The Elven King had rejected his appeal, citing "protection" as the reason.

"Ilodyer, here for more reading?" a elves girl smiled at him.

Ilodyer nodded and entered the library of The Elven Kingdom, akin to our present-day library.

The Elven Kingdom library wasn't a single structure but a complex of buildings built around several large trees.

It housed various books from different elves races and translations of books from other races.

The complex interconnected the trees with spiraling staircases, giving Ilodyer a maze-like sensation.

Through reading, Ilodyer ruthlessly shattered his previous assumptions.

He had thought he'd merely traveled back to the medieval past, but the descriptions in the books depicted an era unlike any in human history.

In this world dominated by magic, slaughter was a commonplace occurrence, and even elves engaged in acts of killing.

This vast landmass was called Eldoria continent, where various races coexisted, including those from mythical tales. elves were a prime example.

Despite its vastness, this continent still couldn't fulfill certain races' needs, prompting The Elven King to lead his people in creating a separate space within the forest, detached from the power struggles among different races.

This was why The Elven King had mentioned that this realm would perish once he left Evergreen Glade Forest; its existence depended on his power.

As Ilodyer gazed out the window, he found it truly unbelievable. This breathtakingly beautiful space, crafted by The Elven King, held such realism.

He lived there peacefully with his kin, as if in a utopian paradise...

Father, I admire you so much...

But then again... does this concept of time travel not discriminate between spaces, places, and individuals? It truly makes one feel powerless...

In the geographical book about the eastern part of Eldoria continent, many captivating and strange landscapes were described, greatly tempting Ilodyer, a lover of travel. Of course, the book also depicted the dangers of the continent and the hazards posed by other races.

In an era without trains or planes, traversing the entire continent on foot, admiring its scenery, might even take one to the thousand of years...

There seemed to be a form of magic for transporting people, but... its difficulty was exceedingly high; it might even be impossible in this lifetime.

After borrowing a book about the eastern Eldoria continent from the library, Ilodyer followed a small path back home.

Having transformed into a elves, his body had become much lighter, and he still retained the assassin habit of avoiding main roads. However, reality later proved that this was an exceedingly unwise habit.

"Wow..." Ilodyer stood on a branch, inadvertently turned his head, and saw a distant cluster of white buildings that radiated a pearl-like hue in the sunlight.

The shine here, although not as grand as my home, carries a unique charm.

"Um... is this Rhys house?" Ilodyer muttered to himself while standing on a branch. He had been to Rhys house a few times before, but always entered through the front door. This path was behind their house.

Right, let's go see Rhys, it's been a few days since I've seen him... With that thought, Ilodyer turned to head towards the front of the house, but after a couple of steps, he stopped. This was the back of the house, and he could still see Rhys room. Perhaps it's better to just jump up there directly.

With that in mind, Ilodyer leaped lightly and landed on the terrace of Rhys room.

"Rhys?" Ilodyer lifted the white curtains, only to find that there was no one in the room.

Rhys room was spacious and neat, likely reflecting his meticulous nature. As Rhys hailed from a noble elves family, even if he didn't fuss, the room exuded an understated elegance.

Expensive drapes reached down to the floor, and the thick white plush carpet muffled any footsteps, while a faint scent peculiar to Rhys lingered in the air.

"Huh... not here?" Ilodyer wandered around the room with a hint of disappointment, wondering if he should wait for him here.

His gaze wandered, then suddenly fixed on a full-length mirror. At a glance, this mirror seemed no different from a regular one, quietly placed in a corner, easily overlooked. Yet, it had caught Ilodyer attention.

At first, Ilodyer felt something odd about it, unable to pinpoint exactly what was wrong, just a peculiar sensation. He walked up to the mirror and finally understood its peculiarity.

It wouldn't be accurate to call it a mirror; it was more like a thick piece of glass. It couldn't reflect any images.

When touched, it was smooth like glass, indistinguishable from a mirror on the surface, but behind that layer of glass was a pure white expanse.

It was somewhat akin to standing in front of a glass window on a foggy autumn morning, gazing at the dense, unyielding mist.

Ilodyer tilted his head. Why would Rhys place a piece of glass in his room? He curiously placed his hand on the glass again, feeling the cold sensation characteristic of inorganic matter.

Suddenly, something strange happened behind the glass.

The dense white mist that had resembled fog started to churn, like mist stirred by the wind, and a hand gradually emerged from the mist.

When the fingers of that hand touched the glass, ripples spread across it, as if the surface was water, and the hand reached through the glass, touching the air of the room.

Oh my goodness! Ghost, ghost, it's like something out of a horror movie!

Ilodyer quickly retreated a few steps, scanning the room to find something handy. If that thing dared to show itself, he wouldn't hesitate to use whatever he had in his hand.

So, Ilodyer looked around... but there was nothing in Rhys room. He had no choice but to pick up a large pillow from the bed.

Looking at the soft pillow, the corners of Ilodyer mouth twitched uncontrollably. Did Rhys really think his room was so safe?

In the time it took to find something, a person head had already appeared in the mirror. The thing hand rested on the frame of the mirror, as if about to step out of it.

"I'll hit you!" Without further thought, Ilodyer waved the pillow at him.

"Wow!"

The thing hit by the pillow let out a cry and rapidly darted out of the mirror, its body moving at top speed.
