Eden Cooper
Eden opened her eyes and was surprised to see that she was still alive. The memories of everything came flashing back, then she immediately got up from her back and turned to see Lowell beside her, asleep. She realized that she was in the hospital.
"Lowell, Lowell", she said and tapped him gently, waking him up.
"You're awake", he said and jolted from his sleep. He hugged her and she just smiled at him.
"I'm so happy", he said .
"What happened?", She asked.
"Well, you collapsed in my arms, and i had to rush you to the hospital, You've been asleep for three days now", he told her. She couldn't believe that she slept for so long.
"We don't have to worry about anything else again; the curse has been broken, and Carlsen is gone, so we can finally be together forever", he said . He took her hands in his and placed a kiss on it.
"What are you thinking?", he asked once he noticed that she wasn't talking. She just smiled at him.
"I'm thinking that you should shut up and kiss me", she said and they locked lips.
*************************
Eden Cooper unfastened her seat belt and waited for Lowell to leave the car. She followed him over the mountains and through a dark canyon until they came across a small town within the heart of the forest. The fields were canopied with overhead branches of tall trees. The sun beat her skin slowly as they walked.
"Who the hell is she?"
"What are you doing here?"
"Isn't that the son of Adolphus?"
"That bastard!"
Eden held his arm tightly and she felt him exhale in relief; he needed the support.
"I'm not here to threaten any of you." He announced as soon as they were all gathered.
"I'm just here to take what's rightfully mine."
"You lost that right since your father decided to go live among the humans."
"You banished him, Adrian!" He barked.
"You all are the reasons why the humans are going after us. Killing the pack members one by one will not guarantee your confidentiality or secrecy. To the humans, you are nothing but a myth. We are..." He shifted on one leg. "Mystical. Esther Drake, Monica, Sampson, all of 'em. They didn't deserve to die. They only needed a break and you denied them all that."
"You're still bound by the curse."
"Doesn't mean I can't rule you. By all means, I remain your Alpha!"
"And how are you going to do that, eh?" An older man asked. "By killing all of us?"
The other members laughed.
One thing Eden noticed was their appearance. They all had similar features such as nice hair, handsome faces and built bodies. Now, she's seen where Lowell got his from.
"No. I don't need to. I already broke the curse."
He slipped his backpack off his shoulder, unzipped it and brought out what's left of Carlsen's dripping head.
They all gasped.
"If this be an atonement..." He stared at Eden. "No human is involved."
"What?" She gagged. As she stared at him, she felt her bones crackling. It was so painful she stretched her hands for help but no one came to her rescue. Her spine curved, making her fall to the ground on all fours. Her satin smooth skin covered in furs and her scream slowly metamorphose into a growl. By the time she was done, she staggered and fell into unconsciousness but not without hearing him say.
"She'll be my Luna!" And the crowds cheered.
*************
Eden's eyes fluttered open, and she found herself nestled in a room that seemed to glow with the radiance of a thousand suns. Golden tendrils of light played upon the walls, casting a warm and inviting ambiance. As her mind emerged from the depths of sleep, hazy memories danced at the edges of her consciousness, like mist clinging to a forest clearing. She blinked, trying to piece together the fragments of what had happened.
A peculiar sensation coursed through her body, like a gentle electric current that thrummed beneath her skin. It was as though she was connected to a source of potent energy, an energy that resonated with every fiber of her being. As she stretched her arms, she noticed a newfound strength and vitality that seemed to have awakened within her during her slumber.
"What the hell happened?"
How did she go from being a detective in Willowbrook to being in a fancy room? The battles she has had go fight and the initiation. It all came back to her.
Amidst this surreal awakening, a soft, low whisper, like a secret shared by the wind, echoed in her ears. "Eden," the voice murmured, its tone carrying a soothing familiarity that resonated within her soul. "Come out, dear one."
Guided by this ethereal beckoning, Eden swung her legs over the side of the bed. The cold floor sent a shiver up her spine, but her feet carried her forward, driven by an inexplicable compulsion. Each step was both deliberate and effortless, as if an invisible force was gently pushing her.
The path the voice painted in her mind led her through corridors adorned with ancient carvings, patterns and symbols that seemed to tell stories of generations long past. As she walked, the memories began to merge—fragmented scenes of her transformation, the sensation of growth and evolution, and the emergence of a latent power that now hummed within her.
Finally, she arrived at a doorway that led to a white painted room. She stepped through, finding herself in a room bathed in the soft glow of morning sunbeams. Before her, a grand table was set for a lavish breakfast, adorned with fresh fruits, pastries, and steaming mugs of fragrant tea.
Seated at the head of the table was Lowell, the Alpha of the pack. His hair caught the light, making him seem like a figure from a dream. Beside him sat his Beta, a formidable-looking woman with a kind smile, and several elders of the pack whose eyes carried the weight of countless experiences.
"Eden," Lowell's voice carried the same resonance as the whisper that had guided her. "Welcome, Lily."
She approached the table, the energy within her resonating with a harmonious frequency that seemed to echo the very heartbeat of the world. The others at the table regarded her with curiosity and respect, as if they sensed the significance of her presence.
"You have awakened to a destiny that has long been intertwined with ours," the Beta spoke, her voice like a gentle breeze rustling through ancient trees. "You carry the essence of the ancient lineage, a lineage that has guarded the balance of nature and spirit for generations."
Eden's heart raced as the pieces fell into place, the memories and whispers converging to reveal a truth that she had only begun to glimpse. She was now a Werewolf and not just a common one.
A Luna.
As she took her place at the table, the warm smiles of the elders embraced her, and Lowell's eyes held a spark of recognition that mirrored her own dawning understanding. The energy within her pulsed with a newfound purpose, intertwining her fate with the pack, with the land, and with her passion for her career. What else is lurking behind the dark?
