Dick walks down the road until he comes to Laurie's house. He walks up the drive to her door and knocks. A man opened the door, with this questioning look on his face? "Can I help you?" "Hey, mister I'm sorry to bother you. I just came back to get my sweater."
"What do you mean son?" "Well sir I met Laurie at the dance, we became friends and I decided to walk her home on the way here it started getting cold so I gave her my sweater to keep he warm. I was halfway home when I realized laurie still had it, I was just coming to get it." The mans eyes swelled up with tears and shakingly he told dick he was wrong. "Your wrong son, you weren't with my daughter. How can you be so cruel to show up on my doorstep in the middle of the night and mention my daughter, especially tonight."
"I'm sorry sir, but this is the house I dropped her off at. I watched her go inside" "is this some kind of cruel prank that you and your fellow students decided to pull?" "I'm sorry sir, now I'm confused?" "Why would this be a prank." Son, you need to leave." Duck interjects. "Again sir I'm sorry to have bothered you she told me she was 18 today." Her fathers starts crying. Son, I don't know how you know this information but my Laurie died a year ago today. It Was her 18th birthday. now leave before I call the cops." The father slammed the door in dicks face and dick is dumfounded and confused. He talks to himself "Maybe I did go to the wrong house. She said I could see her tomorrow I'll just get my sweater back then."
He starts to walk home. As he passes the cemetery something told him to go inside. He sees a strange shadow and follows it. All of a sudden he sees his sweater laying on top of a tombstone. He looks around thinking maybe someone playing a prank. When he doesn't see anything he grabs the sweater and looks at the grave he sees the name Laurie and turns white as a sheet and runs the rest of the way home. Wondering to himself what actually happened at the dance that night.
