"Why couldn't you have waited a little longer?"
Aliya's words lingered in Ian's mind as he headed out of the room and along the hospital's corridors. It was his phone that brought him out of his reverence, and his mother's question was not even surprising. Ian had somehow expected that call, but what he had not expected were the voices of opinion that had been directed at him.
In a way, he was happy, but there was another emotion that Ian could not pinpoint. Ian was happy that his family was on Shelby's side, unanimously, but he knew that they did not have to worry about anything, for he was on his wife's side as well. This whole situation with Aliya was turning out to be a little more delicate than he had thought.
Ian sighed and then continued walking towards his destination, the doctor's office.
