Chapter 31 - Sharing

"Why did everything turn out like this?" Theodore mumbled with a pained expression. He put down the report sent by his people, those who are in charge of ensuring Marcus's safety.

The room was brightly lit with sunshine coming from the big windows on two sides and bookshelves lining the walls.The room exudes an air of wisdom and history.

Theodore leaned in a worn leather armchair and Gabby was perched on his lap, engrossed in a storybook Theodore had found for him.

Theodore slowly puts down his reading glasses on the nearby table, his fingers trembling with age. He takes a deep breath and closes his tired eyes, weariness etched across his face.

Gabby looked up from his book and blinked his big eyes, looking at his great grandfather with worry.

"Grandpa Theo, what's wrong?"

Theodore softly stroked Gabby's fluffy hair and said, "Oh, nothing, my dear. Just thinking about something that's been troubling me."
