Eagle'star opened his eyes allowing him to see the unfamiliar area surrounding him. He turned as he heard the sound of paw steps behind him.
He saw a brilliantly orange pelted tom walking towards him, his fur glowing in the sun.
"Greetings Eagle'star." He said, dipping his head as a sign of respect.
"I am Fire'star, a previous leader of ThunderClan."
Eagle'star stared at him in wonder. He didn't need Fire'star to have given him an introduction as he had heard stories and tales about the legendary leader who has saved the clans countless times.
"I-It's an honour to meet you" he managed to get out. Fire'star's tail flicked, amused.
"No need to be formal. I've been watching you and you seem like a brilliant leader." Eagle'star felt heat flood through his body at the praise.
"Thank you Fire'star-" He started but Fire'star had turned, motioning him to follow.
Eagle'star followed him and they ended up in a clearing with lots of other cats, some that he recognised and some that he didn't.
One cat stepped forwards and his heart felt like it would tear in two as he saw who it was. Cloud'pelt, his mate who had passed away last season. She gazed at him with love shining in her amber eyes.
"I'm sorry I had to leave so soon Eagle'star," she explained "But everything and everyone has a destiny. And that was mine."
"But you could've stayed. You can still stay. Please come back" Eagle'star pleaded. Anger flashed through Cloud'pelts eyes
"I know you better than that. Don't be selfish!" She hissed and Eagle'star's shoulders slumped. "We didn't bring you here so you can plead like a kit away from its mother. We brought you here for a reason." Eagle'star straightened up as he realised how he was acting.
"You're right. I shouldn't ask you that. But I'll never stop loving you." Cloud'pelt's angry gaze softened.
"I would never ask you that. I'll never stop loving you either." She murmured.
Fire'star stepped forward again, his demeanour suddenly serious now.
"We need you to listen now as this is extremely important." Eagle'star, now confused, pricked his ears up so he could hear better.
All the cats suddenly started chanting
"The territory will be bathed in blood when the Sun's rays scorch the earth. A star will shine bright to fight the everlasting darkness approaching."
Eagle'star looked around, bewildered by all the voices and noticed that all the cats that had been in the shadows before are now stood in line with Fire'star and Cloud'pelt. Repeating the prophesy.
"What does that mean?!" Eagle'star begged, but no cat answered him. They just repeated the same words.
"Please!"
The starry cats started to fade until Eagle'star couldn't see them anymore and he jolted awake.
He glanced around his den, dazed, his dream still on his mind. He snapped out of it and rushed out onto high ledge. He needed the medicine cat.
"Blue'Feather!"
