Chapter 11 - Chapter 11;Bonds of Friendship

In the past few days, Amiver had been quite occupied. She poured her time into work and found solace in the noticeable improvement she was making. Her job's rules and tasks became second nature to her, yet her coworkers still kept their distance, leaving her to handle things on her own. She embraced this with a shrug, thinking, "Let them think what they want; I'll just do my best." In her mind. She also often found herself working overtime, which resulted in her having less time for Marcus.

Director Frank, on the other hand, had stopped constantly bothering her. Perhaps he was waiting for her to make a mistake, or maybe he had realized that it was time for him to give up and stop trying to provoke and insult her.

Miss Amiver, we need to revise the design for another area of the mall. Mr. Marquez still isn't satisfied," Maria informed her.

She let out a frustrated sigh, feeling her hand instinctively move to her head. She had already put a lot of effort into the design proposal, and it was baffling to her why Denmark still wasn't pleased. She wondered if they were really okay after their last conversation.

"Alright, I'll redo it," she replied to Maria.

A little while later, there was a knock on her office door. "Come in!" she called out, and Justine walked in.

Justine!" she exclaimed, rushing over to hug her friend. "Why didn't you call so I could pick you up from the airport?" she asked immediately.

"Hmm, I wanted to surprise you," Justine replied with a grin.

She was delighted by Justine's arrival, feeling as though she had a friend within the company despite being her boss and a CEO. Justine's kindness and sense of humor endeared her to many, even though some women secretly envied her and felt a tinge of jealousy.

Hmm, how's your day going? And I caught you earlier, you had a frown on your face," he asked, inquiring about her day.

Our client, I've already revised the design of their mall several times, but it still hasn't been approved. It's frustrating," she said, expressing his annoyance.

Let me see," Angelo said, examining the proposal and designs.

"It looks fine," he remarked.

"Just a heads up, this client seems to be a tough one. We might face a challenge. But don't worry, I'm here. I'll help you with everything," Justine assured him.

A smile formed on his face upon hearing Justine's words.

They had a joyful conversation, thoroughly enjoying each other's company.

She was also surprised to learn that Justine's condo in Manila was right next to their unit.

"Uncle Justine!" Marcus exclaimed, rushing over to hug Justine.

Justine brought many gifts for Marcus, which brought a huge smile to the child's face. It seemed like he was thoroughly delighted by the presents.

Amiver couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth and happiness at the sight of Marcus and Justine bonding.

You know, Justine is handsome. I don't understand why you still haven't said yes to him," Messie asked, while they were in the kitchen, watching Justine and Marcus play with the toys that Justine brought as gifts.

And he's so kind too. Look at Marcus, he's so happy whenever he sees Justine," Messie added with a smile, observing Marcus's joyful reaction to Justine's presence.

Amiver glanced at Messie, who was looking at Marcus and Justine. Her friend was truly beautiful, with a simple and understated charm. Like her, she had always been at the top of their class back in high school. When Messie's father passed away and their family went bankrupt, she was devastated and had to give up on pursuing college. She had to start working to provide for mother and herself every day.

Hmm, what about you? Why don't you have a boyfriend yet?" Amiver asked, turning the question around.

Messie looked at her, and the smile faded from her lips.

When Papa was still alive, I thought I was so blessed in life. I had a father who was a good provider, loving to his wife and child. But it turns out, everything he showed was fake. So when he passed away, all the secrets he hid came out. He had children with three mistresses, something we didn't know. He also had a lot of debts we were unaware of. Since then, my perspective on men has changed, especially after you told me about your situation with Denmark," she explained.

Messie looked at Amiver, seemingly seeking approval to mention her ex-husband.

"Sorry," Messie whispered softly.

Amiver nodded, appreciating.

"It's alright, Messie.

Amiver reached out and placed a comforting hand on Messie's.

"I can't imagine how difficult that must have been for you. But you know, not all men are the same. There are good ones out there who will treat you the way you deserve to be treated."

Perhaps Aunt Che and I have become wary of men, but in the end, not all men are the same.,"Amiver said, offering a glimmer of hope.

Messie nodded, I've grown too attached to Marcus. I don't want to leave him, you know," Messie admitted with a hint of emotion in her voice.

Hey, Don't worry about Marcus for now. Your happiness is what matters most. Besides, Marcus is growing up and becoming more independent. It's probably time for you to focus on yourself. I'll take care of Marcus," Amiver reassured with a warm smile.

And another thing, you were there from the beginning with Nay Che, and you never abandoned me. I'm so thankful for that," Amiver added. You've always been there for us."

Messie smiled warmly. "We're like family, Ami. Through thick and thin, we'll always be here for each other."

Amiver nodded, her heart full of gratitude for the strong bond they shared. "I couldn't have asked for better friends than you and Nay Che."

That's what friends are for," Messie replied. "

Their emotional conversation was interrupted by a sudden sound—the doorbell chiming in to signal the arrival of their dinner order.
