Chapter 5 - 05. Han Junjie

Linzhi's heart was about to jump out of her throat; her fingers pinched her phone tightly. If she still didn't understand, then she was living her life in vain. Across the square was another familiar face from her original timeline, a man called Beno, that arrested not long before Linzhi's death because of drug distribution.

The case was a big scandal as it involved various military officials, politicians, and many figures in the entertainment world. I don't know how many families have been ruined because of the destruction of these people's careers. What's worse, Beno only received a social service sentence and house arrest on the basis of cooperating with the investigation and had no risk of escaping.

No matter how much Linzhi wanted to think positively, this was a state of emergency. She sent the previous text to the emergency call center and called the number. The operator could listen to them while also sending police to her location.

Linzhi grabbed the musician's hand that tuning his guitar and pleaded: "Could you help me to go there? I've called the police, but I need time to make them stay and get my friend out of trouble."

The musician in the mask eyes her in disbelief.

Sensing his hesitation, Linzhi stuffed some money from Yunxi. "Please help me; my friend is still underage. I don't think he knows that those people are very dangerous. Please help me."

He packed his guitar and walked alongside her.

"Patrick!" After only a few steps from them, Linzhi shouted and yanked his collar, "Your brother and I just talked for a minute, and you're running around; what is wrong with you?"

Beno and his men pocketed their hands unnaturally, diverting their gaze as if they weren't coming over to Patrick.

Linzhi was 168 cm, quite tall for a girl, and the musicians were taller than those men. Linzhi's strategy to establish dominance was successful by posing as an elder and using their vantage point.

"What are-"

Linzhi punched Patrick's gut, enough to make him shut up; "Let's go home; you make me worry!" Half dragging the younger guy, the musician tacitly following behind them.

As they were a quarter away from the park's gate.. A punk rock music blasting in the middle of the square, Beno and his men grinned and ran after them.

Her body reacted before her brain, and she bolted while still dragging Patrick.

Linzhi finally understood why cliche happened in movies cause real life is just as cliche! She secured her phone but never thought of securing Patrick's phone.

'Where the heck is the police?!'

Even though they lost Beno and his group, the three of them managed to survive and were escorted to the police station to provide information. Linzhi didn't forget to brief Patrick to keep his mouth shut until the lawyers arrived.

Linzhi had not returned to the past long ago, and the only person she could trust right now was Zhang Yunxi. After contacting her, a man in his early 30s arrives and somehow manages to make a deal with the police regarding Patrick.

The pretentious youth endured his embarrassment and squeaked: "Thank you."

Linzhi sneered, "Heh, you think thank you is enough? I don't need fake words; from now on, you are my employee."

Patrick wasn't even surprised; he just lowered his head in resignation. He knows how the world works; one doesn't do something for someone else for nothing. He can sleep in internet cafes by taking care of them for free.

"Lawyer Qian, tomorrow I will come to your office. Please take this gentleman to his destination. Patrick and I will take a taxi," before hailing the cab, she talked to the musician. "Thank you for your help tonight; if not for your quick response, I might get hit just now. Also.." She wrote her mini blog username behind Lawyer Qian's name card; "In case you need medical treatment or something else, you can message me here. Don't forget to attach the name card so I'll know it was you. Thank you again for the help, Mr. Musician."

Linzhi bowed and dragged Patrick away from the police station.

"Excuse me, where do you need me to take you?"

The man shook his head, "No need. My dorm is nearby."

When he returned to the dormitory, his roommates had already fallen asleep. The place he lives in now is the dormitory for trainees arranged by the company. Each dorm usually has three to four people, each with a separate room.

Han Junjie didn't turn on the light, and when he walked to the door of his room, the door in the corridor opened from the outside to the inside.

Wei Haoran was wearing pajamas; his disheveled hair intensified his innocent persona. He had the baby face many young girls love. "Brother, why did you come back so late today?"

Ignoring his silence, Wei Haoran continued: "Brother, I heard Brother Niu at the company today saying that he would come to trouble you. Being late and leaving early, he's very dissatisfied with you for singing outside instead of training."

Wei Haoran, still following him to his door, looked at him disapprovingly: "Brother, why have you changed so much this year? Don't you want to debut?"

Han Junjie ignored him and slam his door before Wei Haoran could enter.

Wei Haoran blushed from being blocked.

He showed him favor several times but did not get a good reception from Han Junjie. He was young, his face might be aggrieved, but his eyes were overflowing with malice.

Wei Haoran recalled two years ago when they first came to the company. He and Han Junjie belonged to the same batch of trainees, and they were assigned to the same dormitory. Han Junjie was one year older than him, and he called out obediently, and Han Junjie really took care of him as a younger brother.

Let him do everything; think about him everything. Help him correct his pronunciation, dance with him, and help him tackle the movements he doesn't know one by one. When he injured his ligaments, Han Junjie also helped his recovery.

Someone in the company bullied him, so Han Junjie went up to help him fight with his fists.

A teenage boy facing a group of people by himself was stupid, but he did it anyway. At the time, the taller boy just smiled; "Don't be afraid; they won't dare to bully you anymore."

At that time, he sincerely regarded Han Junjie as his brother and was grateful to him.

When did it all change?

Was it when the dance teacher praised Han Junjie unabashedly but called him clumsy? Or when the vocal teacher praised Han Junjie for his talent but looked at him and shook his head when he sang?

He knows he shouldn't be jealous, but the anger, resentment, and hatred entangled his heart like a fine net and drew blood.

But he concealed it well.

While feeling jealous in his heart, he enjoyed Han Junjie's care.

Until last year..

Han Junjie didn't go to training because of a fever, and after he woke up from a sleepless night, how he looked at him changed.

He seemed to be different, indifferent, withdrawn, solitary, doing his own way, covered with thorns all over his body so that no one dared to approach him.

At first, Wei Haoran thought that his little thoughts had been noticed, and he was in a state of panic all day long, pretending to care about him, and tried to curry favor carefully, but no matter what he did, Han Junjie never responded. He even deliberately conflicted with other trainees, but in the end, he only got Han Junjie 's indifferent eyes.

Not only did he alienate himself, but he also cut off communication with everyone around him. He started to slack off training, arrived late and left early, and even went to the night market to sing like a crazy person.

Brother Niu, the Trainee Director, was angry and said that once the best seedling was caught slacking off like this, the company might give up this person.

While Wei Haoran was secretly happy, he was also worried that if Han Junjie left, who would help him in the future? What if those who bullied him once came against him again? Wei Haoran gritted his teeth anxiously, but there was nothing he could do, and he finally went back to his room and slammed the door hard.

Han Junjie was unbothered by the noise across the hall.

He put down the guitar case and changed his clothes and shoes. He put the money he earned today into the savings box. There was a calendar on the table, and he circled the date with a blue pen. Sitting cross-legged with his laptop on his lap, he watches another free lesson on coding.

PLAKK!

"Ouch, what was that for?" Rubbing her attacked head, Linzhi glared at Andrea.

After settling Patrick in Angon, she finally back at Beiling, but what greeted her was her best friends in her dorm and a smack on the head.

The trio shows no compassion at all.

"What do you think that was for?" Rachel crossed her hand - her signature pose.

"I don't know, you guys tell me!"

Sunny harshly handed a ripped envelope to her.

As the room owner, Linzhi was more like an uninvited guest for standing in the door's hallway, and she read it: 'Congratulations on your acceptance in early admission!'

Checking the sender, it was indeed her top pick - the National University of Angon. She was confused by their reaction, "Shouldn't you guys congratulate me?"
