Chapter 15
"Oh ya...by who?" Vik's words echoed in my mind.
Why did it bother me that he taunted me for my unknown origin and background? Why was his opinion about me so important to me. As I walked past, I saw Barbie with an older graceful but stern lady. She resembled Vik in her looks. Maybe his mom. I gave a polite nod in their direction. Barbie got close to her ear and said something.
The next thing I knew, she grabbed my hand and stopped me. Startled but not wanting to cause a scene, I stood there with a polite smile. "Natasha here tells me you were all over Vik since the flight." she asked with a pointed glare.
What me, all over Vik, was Brabie blind, or was she as dense as she looked? Reading my confused expression, Vik's mom said..." I know girls like you, all beauty and no pedigree or family name and origin, looking for a rich, handsome guy to take care of them for the rest of their life".. " Lord knows I'ev warded enough of your kind off" she added.
I was so offended by their words that I didn't realize that Eva and her mom were standing on either side of me, and Eva held my hand protectively. Vik had also walked up to us and was purring at Barbie at the moment.
I held my head high and spoke. " Aunty,"....she waved me off and said, "it's Mrs. Singh for you; I don't associate with lowlifes of unknown origins like you." Hearing this, Vik scowled at his mom, and Barbie stiffened. He almost felt human to me.
Retaining my composure, I began again..." Mrs. Singh, It's unfortunate that you had to ward women off of your husband for a good part of your life, but let me assure you they are nothing like me. I am successful and educated, and I consider myself intelligent. I graduated from Yale on scholarship and on top of my class as class valedictorian. The pedigree you are looking for pertains to but isn't limited to being a whore and not having an ounce of work ethic and dignity...the only fulfilling criteria is wealthy parents. Well, Im glad Im none of those things. I assure you I won't touch your son with a ten-foot pole; he isn't worth me giving my virginity to".
Before leaving, I looked at Barbie and said, "Jealousy looks uglier than this last season's Zimmerman you are wearing. Also, whatever happened to your hit and Run case...where you drove your Porche into incoming traffic under the influence of coke with a Brazillian gigolo with you"?. "I hope your father got you out of it; at least your pedigree is still intact; who gives a damn about your hymen or contracting STDs as long as you can boost their share prices."
Eva, Vik, and A young girl who looked like a younger version of Mrs. Singh snorted and laughed as I gave a slight courtesy nod and left them.
I could feel Sher watching me with a look of helplessness and adoration in his eyes. I left before the floodgates opened, and I cried and sobbed into my hand once I was far away from them and their kind.
