Chapter 92 - A Lesson

"It's completely normal to feel afraid when you're still getting the hang of your own power," Alex reassured Kitty, watching as the iron flower transformed into a perfect likeness of her beloved pet.

Kitty held the iron model tightly, her distress evident. "But I don't understand any of this. I just want to be normal," she confided.

Alex nodded understandingly. "Kitty, what you're experiencing is more common than you think. Many people don't realize they have extraordinary abilities until they're faced with extreme situations. It's all tied to something called the X gene."

"The X gene?" Kitty echoed, her curiosity piqued.

"Yes, it's like the key to unlocking our special powers. Some people have it lying dormant until something triggers it, like intense emotions," Alex explained gently.

Kitty's mind buzzed with possibilities. "So, you're saying I could be a superhero?"

Alex smiled, seeing the hope in her eyes. "Exactly. You don't have to let fear control you. You can use your abilities for good."

This conversation echoed the essence of American heroism, where individuals rose to greatness in the face of adversity, much like the iconic figures of Marvel's Avengers and X-Men.

Kitty's eyes lit up with excitement. "Really?"

Alex hesitated for a moment, feeling a pang of guilt. Deceiving a fifteen-year-old wasn't exactly his favorite task.

"Absolutely. Mastering your ability takes time and practice. It's all about getting it to move with your thoughts," Alex explained in a relaxed tone.

Kitty nodded, feeling a mix of excitement and apprehension at the prospect of suddenly possessing superpowers as an ordinary teenager.

"Take all the time you need. And remember, there's a whole community out there with abilities like yours. You're not alone," Alex reassured her, hoping she'd be receptive to the idea of a specialized school for individuals like them.

As Kitty bid farewell with a smile, Alex couldn't help but wonder if she truly understood the magnitude of what lay ahead.

However, before Alex could dwell on it further, he was interrupted by Reddy, who issued a stern warning.

"Listen, kid, stay away from that girl. I'll be the one helping her control her abilities. So, keep your distance."

Alex maintained his composure, brushing off Reddy's aggression. "Look, I may be older than your grandfather, but I don't want any trouble. Let's keep this civil, okay?"

Was it fair for someone in their sixties or seventies to confront a fifteen-year-old like this? Alex pondered as Reddy defiantly challenged him.

As the hall began to tremble, it became evident that Reddy possessed a formidable ability.

Alex remained composed, acknowledging Reddy's power. "Impressive, but it's not enough," he remarked calmly, using his own abilities to effortlessly subdue Reddy and teach him a lesson.

Reflecting on the situation, Alex realized that even among mutants, such displays could be considered a form of bullying.

Charles, arriving on the scene, couldn't help but tease Alex about the age difference. "A sixty or seventy-year-old man taking on a teenager? Quite the sight."

Alex brushed off the comment with humor. "Just reminding him to respect his elders."

Charles chuckled, marveling at Alex's strength. "You're aging like fine wine, my friend."

Turning his attention to Reddy, Charles offered advice on self-control, but Reddy's cold response only fueled the tension.

Reddy's warning to Alex didn't go unnoticed, but Alex remained unfazed. "Seems like you still have a lot to learn," he remarked calmly, instilling a sense of caution in Reddy.

As Reddy hastily retreated, Charles remarked on the significant strength difference. "You might have scared the kid a bit too much," he observed, signaling the end of the confrontation.
