Chereads / Marvel: The Gene Collector / Chapter 125 - Reed

Chapter 125 - Reed

In a remote location in Canada, a base lay dormant, housing more than a dozen dormant robots.

Alex's eyes narrowed in cold determination. Sentinels? Stryker hadn't given up, it seemed. And with Ms. Surprise, Nick Fury, and Wolverine's apparent involvement, it was clear whose idea it was.

Though this plan had been abandoned previously, and its instigator, Trix, had defected to the Mutant camp, Stryker had quietly continued his efforts, manufacturing Sentinels in the "sixty-seven zero."

Now, it appeared the Sentinel project was being revived. While Sentinels were no match for fifth-level Mutants, what incensed Alex was the audacity to target him.

"Sentry Plan… targeting my partner?" Alex's eyes flashed with cold anger. Did they think he was ignorant? His telepathic powers allowed him to delve into their minds and uncover their schemes, yet he refrained from doing so, deeming it beneath him.

Did they truly believe he required a brainwave amplifier like Charles? Underestimating his strength was their gravest mistake.

Jensen's phantom creation abilities were potent, especially for manipulation. Even Charles, a master of soul domination, had fallen victim. If Alex unleashed his powers, the results would be devastating.

However, the time wasn't right yet.

When the time came, these individuals would witness the true terror of a fifth-level Mutant.

"It's time to sound the alarm for these guys! Otherwise, are mutants just going to be pushed around?" Alex thought to himself.

Furthermore, Alex wanted to prove that their so-called Sentinels were nothing to be afraid of.

But while Sentinels posed no threat to him, they could still be dangerous to mutants below his level, including Charles, Eric, and even his own women.

"Let's call them back first," Alex decided. The threat of Sentinels to mutants like Charles was too significant to ignore.

Alex reached out to Eric, subtly using his psychic powers to communicate without revealing himself. Instead, he manipulated the Angel beside Eric.

"Eric, we're in trouble," the Chief Angel suddenly spoke.

"Huh? What's going on?" Eric turned to the Angel, only to find his eyes completely black, devoid of any white.

He immediately understood that the Angel had been controlled.

"Are you Charles?" Eric asked, his expression hardening.

"No, I'm Alex. I need to inform you that the Sentry plan has been restarted," the controlled Angel relayed.

"What?!" Eric's expression shifted, realizing the severity of the situation. He, too, was aware of the potential consequences, and he rose from his seat in alarm.

"These damn humans, we have to stop them!" Eric declared, turning to the Angel with determination.

"Just leave this to me. You just need to hide it. Don't interfere," Mr. Angel instructed before reverting to his original state. Angel rubbed his head, wondering what had just transpired.

Eric's expression shifted slightly, but he ultimately decided not to intervene. If Alex was confident, then Eric trusted his judgment.

With Brotherhood's substantial population, they needed to ensure their own survival. The underground world seemed like a viable option.

"Angel, gather all the brothers back later," Eric ordered.

"Why? Won't our recent efforts go to waste?" Chief Angel questioned hastily.

"This is for the safety of our brothers. We can't continue putting them in danger outside. Alex made it clear," Eric explained calmly.

"Alex..." Angel paused, recalling the scene when Smith killed Er Tian.

After Alex briefed Eric, he refrained from contacting Charles. Researching Raven's genes would require time, and safety was paramount during this period. Alex feared Eric might take preemptive action, potentially jeopardizing their plans. Instead, he opted to involve SHIELD to preempt any disruptions.

But he still needed to inform his own woman.

Sensing Raven's location, Alex teleported near her vicinity—an aerospace base, seemingly constructed by Stark Industries.

"Director John, there's undoubtedly a genetic code within the cosmic storm. Once decrypted, it'll propel humanity forward," a man in a white coat explained earnestly to a suited man.

"Mr. Reed, please curb your fantastical notions. How could human genetic code reside in outer space? It's unrealistic. Moreover, I'm not the authority here. You should seek approval from the master of Stark Industries. You're aware of the costs involved in spacecraft," Director John responded, feeling somewhat helpless.
