Chapter 11 - Army

"Hey, kid, what do you even want the Super Soldier Serum for?" Howard asked, his curiosity piqued.

"I thought it might be useful, but it turns out it's useless," Alex replied, a touch of disappointment in his voice.

He had hoped that the Super Soldier Serum might contain the genetic material he needed, but it didn't.

Howard, slightly bewildered, responded, "Do you think the Super Soldier Serum has something to do with your abilities? That's quite whimsical. The Super Soldier Serum can only push a human's physical abilities to the peak of human potential. Besides, the Super Soldier Project hasn't succeeded yet."

Alex rolled his eyes, choosing not to explain further. After all, the nature of his abilities was a secret known only to the system, and he couldn't reveal it.

"Uncle Howard, I want to join the army," Alex suddenly said, turning his attention to Howard.

"Join the army? Are you out of your mind? How old are you? And do you realize how dangerous it is in the military?" Howard exclaimed, shocked by Alex's request.

"I just want to observe someone, not really join the army. I believe a wealthy industrialist like Stark should have the influence to arrange it," Alex responded, a faint orange glow appearing at his fingertips as a subtle threat.

Howard sighed inwardly. Why did this kid always resort to threats?

He relented, saying, "If it's just for a visit, that's fine. But you have to behave yourself and not attract attention, understood?"

"I'm not foolish," Alex replied, casting a disdainful glance at Howard.

Howard grumbled to himself, wondering why this kid was always so defiant.

Thanks to Howard's influence, Alex, a ten-year-old, found himself placed in the military.

This development left Steve Rogers scratching his head.

"What in the world are these damn people doing in our barracks?"

General Philip exclaimed in frustration, banging his hand on the table. But there was little he could do; someone had to take care of this bear child to ensure he didn't accidentally blow up their boot camp with real weapons.

"The responsibility of looking after the child has been assigned to you by Agent Peggy Carter. Keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't get near any areas with weapons," General Philip instructed with a heavy sigh.

"Yes, sir," Peggy replied, unfazed.

As Alex entered the barracks, he quickly spotted the slender figure of Steve Rogers, who was in the midst of training.

"The sir asked me to take care of you. Stay put and don't wander around. This is a military camp, and there are plenty of dangerous places," Peggy cautioned as she held Alex's hand.

Alex looked at Peggy Carter. She was even more attractive in person than in the movies. Her military uniform accentuated her curves while exuding an air of heroism. It was no wonder Steve was smitten with her; she was indeed a rare beauty.

"You're very beautiful, Miss Carter," Alex complimented politely.

"Thank you for the kind words," Peggy replied with a smile, though she wasn't particularly surprised. After all, this was Howard Stark's adopted son, and he seemed to have inherited Howard's charm.

If Alex had known Peggy's thoughts, he would have certainly found them misplaced. His comment had been a mere polite compliment, not a declaration of romantic interest.

Steve's group of trainees was small, but Alex knew that the final candidate for the Super Soldier Project would emerge from among them.

Steve, as in the original timeline, struggled in his training due to his size and stamina. Despite his determination and effort, his stature continued to hold him back, and he faced ridicule from his fellow trainees.

During an obstacle course, when Steve crawled through a set of wires, Hodge deliberately kicked down a wooden pole, causing Steve to be caught by the falling wire.

Though Steve was eventually rescued, it was discovered that his military uniform had been torn by the wire, leaving two shallow wounds on his back.

Alex's expression darkened. He had a soft spot for Captain America, and seeing Steve's struggles hit a nerve.

Without hesitation, Alex leaped out of the nearby police car and strode up to Hodge, his tone icy as he said, "Apologize to my friend."

Hodge, who had been smirking at Steve's predicament, didn't even acknowledge Alex's presence. Instead, he retorted disdainfully,

"Get lost, kid."
