Chapter 138 - The Living Sacrifice

Luke blinked his pale blue eyes, staring at the ninjutsu scroll in his hands, momentarily at a loss for words.

He had been speculating whether his frog cub would return with such a technique, but now that it lay before him, he was taken aback.

After a moment, he pursed his lips and carefully untied the rope binding the scroll. As the scroll unfurled, the details of the technique were revealed:

**[Forbidden Technique · The Earth Release Resurrection Technique: Corpse Soil - A Precious Specialty from the World of "Naruto"]**

**[Effect: This technique can summon souls of the deceased back into the world, reincarnating them into physical entities. Note: Souls in a sealed state or not in the Pure Land cannot be summoned!]**

**[Usage: Memorize the gestures on the scroll. To perform The Earth Release Resurrection Technique: Corpse Soil, prepare a living sacrifice and obtain the blood and DNA cells of the intended resurrected person. The soul of the deceased will then inhabit the sacrificed body.]**

Luke absorbed the information, pondering the implications. Could souls be summoned if they were sealed or not in a Pure Land?

He contemplated the existence of a Pure Land in the Harry Potter universe, knowing of the god of death but uncertain about such a concept.

An idea began to form in his mind, and he turned to glance at the oblivious Malfoy nearby, dismissing the thought of risking his friend's life.

Instead, why not test it on someone like Lockhart?

Luke laid the scroll flat on the table under the bright light, plotting quietly. As a professor of Dark Arts Defense, Lockhart's disappearance would likely go unnoticed. If successful, it would grant Lockhart a body immune to death, enabling Luke to control him in the future.

With a plan forming, Luke contemplated the need for a human sacrifice—a daunting requirement that might necessitate a visit to Knockturn Alley, where dark wizards and Death Eaters congregated.

Satisfaction tugged at the corners of his mouth as he planned his next move.

"I hope this world has a Pure Land," he mused quietly, his thoughts already racing ahead with ambition and intrigue.

The content on the scrolls wasn't overly complex, just some basic knots and chakra flow diagrams. Luke wondered if Frog Cub's magic could substitute for chakra.

After a night of practice, Luke had nearly mastered it.

"Reincarnation is unlike other ninjutsu with dozens of seals; it only requires four seals and a summoning gesture," Luke mused to himself as he reviewed the scrolls. Without any creatures to test it on, he decided to call it a night.

The next morning, Luke woke early. Beside him, Frog Cub lay sleeping peacefully, and a scroll lay unfolded on the table.

Luke understood the words on the Reincarnation scroll; there was nothing hidden. He stowed it away in the Kamui space. Malfoy and Crabbe were still sound asleep, having been knocked out by illusions the night before, a common occurrence that kept them in bed until noon.

Luke put the scroll away and gently lifted Frog Cub, tucking it into his robe's hood. The creature had returned last night, bringing a surprising gift, though Luke wasn't sure if it would prove useful.

Deciding he had free time that afternoon, Luke considered a trip to Knockturn Alley.

"Mr. Geralt, good morning!" Hermione's voice interrupted his thoughts. She stood before him in her red robe.

"Good morning, my lovely Miss Granger," Luke replied with a soft chuckle.

"You didn't even notice me just now," Hermione teased, squinting playfully at him. "What were you thinking about?"

"I was contemplating how to make Lockhart immortal," Luke said with a shrug, his tone mischievous.

Hermione raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying his answer. "Lockhart would probably thank you for that knowledge," she remarked dryly.

Hermione tilted her head, a smile tugging at her lips as she covered her mouth.

"By the way, do you have any plans for this afternoon?" she inquired.

Luke gently took Hermione's hand and asked softly, "Afternoon plans...?" His touch was warm, familiar to her.

"I was thinking of going to the library this afternoon to read 'Fantastic Beasts'. Will you come with me?" Hermione suggested as they arrived at the auditorium door, walking side by side.

"I have some business this afternoon, so I won't be able to join you," Luke replied regretfully. Today was his designated rest day, and he planned to visit Knockturn Alley to procure a live sacrifice.

"Can I come with you then?" Hermione's brow furrowed slightly.

"What do you think?" Luke replied with a playful smile.

Seeing his expression, Hermione knew it wouldn't be safe for her to accompany him. She didn't show disappointment, just a hint of concern. She understood that if Luke didn't want her to go, it likely meant there were risks involved.

"Will you be back tonight?" she asked softly.

"I should be back tonight," Luke assured her as they settled at a table. He ordered a cup of jasmine tea, enjoying the faint fragrance that lingered under Hermione's curly hair.

"Good morning, you two!" Harry greeted as he approached their table, followed by Neville and Ron.

Since they had spent the morning practicing spells and broom handling at the Black Lake, Luke bid a reluctant Hermione farewell around noon before heading to a bathroom on the fourth floor.

Having previously set coordinates in a secluded alley within Knockturn Alley, Luke activated his Kamui teleportation ability. Despite Apparition being prohibited at Hogwarts, Kamui's spatial manipulation was unaffected.

As the vortex enveloped him, Luke felt the air and his body drawn in like flowing water. When he reopened his eyes...

He found himself in Knockturn Alley.
