Chapter 2 - Slytherin

Harnessing the power within him, Luke effortlessly drew the lightning back into his own body. The incorporation of the Dragon Slayer Crystal not only granted him superhuman strength but also mastery over lightning.

Moreover, he could now wield the formidable powers of the Thunder Dragon. Thunder Dragon's roar, Thunder Dragon's breakdown fist, Lightning Dragon's Heavenward Halberd etc. These spells were unparalleled in their might.

As Luke sat on the sofa, his thoughts drifted to the tasks ahead. He had just dispatched his response via owl.

Hogwarts had addressed his orphaned status in their letter. They assured him that a professor would soon visit to assist with his shopping. After all, some orphans lacked the means to procure the necessities for school and required the school's professors as guides.

So, for now, all he had to do was await the professor's visit and continue honing his knowledge of dragon slaying magic from home.

In Luke's recollection, dragons existed in the Harry Potter world as well, but they paled in comparison to those in the world of Fairy Tail. Here, dragons were utilized by wizards as wand-making materials.

"The dragons of these two worlds are incomparable!" Luke mused to himself.

------------

Three days later, on July 31st, at seven in the morning, Luke, having just finished breakfast, was helping his Frog pack for their upcoming journey.

It was time for the Frog's next adventure.

*Ding-dong.*

The doorbell rang suddenly.

"One moment!" Luke called out.

He knew from the letter that a Hogwarts professor would be visiting today, but he wasn't sure which one. Luke's memories of Hogwarts professors were somewhat hazy, having lived in this world for eleven years.

With that in mind, he opened the door.

"Mr. Luke Geralt?" a cool voice inquired.

"Yes, that's me," Luke replied, looking up at the man before him with his piercing blue eyes.

The man had greasy, shoulder-length hair, a sharp nose, an enigmatic gaze, and was dressed in a black robe.

"May I ask who you are?" Luke inquired.

At first sight, he recognized the man.

Severus Snape.

"Severus Snape," the man introduced himself with a standard gentleman's gesture, his voice slightly hoarse.

"Good morning, Mr. Geralt. I'm the Professor of Potions at Hogwarts and the Head of Slytherin House."

"I've been assigned as your guide to help you purchase the necessary supplies and textbooks for the upcoming school year."

With a polite nod, Luke welcomed Snape into his living room.

The two individuals sat across from each other on the sofa, and Luke carefully prepared two cups of black tea, setting them neatly on the table.

To his surprise, his guide turned out to be Professor Snape. Luke held a deep admiration for Snape.

A complex figure, the embittered double agent, a character steeped in tragedy.

The conversation in the living room revolved around various matters, primarily focusing on what preparations were needed and the currency required.

Luke had meticulously arranged everything for this day.

He had procured a quantity of gold in advance from his family's holdings, necessitating a visit to Gringotts and the rather uncooperative goblins for the exchange.

Gold, a precious metal, held significant value in both the Muggle and wizarding worlds, making it a universal currency.

In comparison, the British pound had significantly depreciated, rendering it less useful in the wizarding realm.

After detailing his preparations to Snape, a trace of satisfaction flickered in Snape's otherwise indifferent eyes.

A well-prepared young wizard like Luke was a rare find.

Once Snape had imparted all the necessary information to Luke, the day's agenda became clear.

"So, Professor Snape, are we heading to Diagon Alley to acquire our school supplies now?" Luke inquired, observing Snape's wand at the ready.

"Mr. Geralt, we aim to conclude all our tasks today, so please hold onto my robe," Snape instructed.

"Of course, Professor Snape!" Luke promptly picked up the slumbering froglet beside him and approached Snape, grasping the hem of the black robe.

"It might feel a bit uncomfortable," Snape cautioned before activating the Apparition magic.

In the next moment, Luke experienced a sensation of suffocation, as if his body were being torn and squeezed. Yet, this level of discomfort held no significance for a body fused with the Dragon Slayer Crystal. Within a few seconds, the discomfort dissipated.

Regaining his senses, Luke realized that they had arrived at a bar. It was the Leaky Cauldron on the way to Diagon Alley.

"Your adaptability is exceptional," Snape complimented Luke's performance. It was a level of adaptability he himself had lacked initially.

"Mr. Geralt, do you have a preference for any of the houses?" Snape inquired.

"No, Professor, I haven't made a decision," Luke replied thoughtfully, considering his response. Though he had a personal inclination toward Gryffindor, he refrained from mentioning it to Snape, who was a professor in Slytherin. To Luke, the specific house didn't matter much.

However, for an orphan like him, joining Slytherin without the necessary strength might prove challenging.

"Is that so?" Snape pondered Luke's response for a moment before stating his purpose outright. "Why don't you consider Slytherin?"

Luke sensed Snape's genuine interest in recruiting him. There seemed to be no harm in joining Slytherin, especially if it meant receiving Snape's extensive guidance. Among all the professors, Snape was undoubtedly the most formidable. Also Luke had his eyes on some interesting potions that will help him immensely in the future.

"Professor, of course, if I can," Luke replied.

At these words, a faint smile curved the corners of Snape's mouth.
