Chapter 6 - A Special Name

Yanagi finally reached his house with a wide smile on his face and energy that surpassed that of a child's. He had in his mind that as soon as he laid his foot inside the house, he would start working on the robot. However, that would not be very realistic if he actually did that. Instead of working out the code, he dealt with his insomnia problem.

By the time he touched his couch to catch his breath, he immediately fell asleep. So, in other words, his happiness was real and tricked his brain into thinking he had the energy to work on the code. In reality, he could barely keep his eyes open while driving, and that was the real reason he almost crashed into the opposite lane.

Yanagi finally woke up. He raised his head and looked around as if he didn't know where he was. The sleep was really refreshing; he even had stripes from the bed's shape. He stood up and rubbed his eyes for a solid minute before looking at his phone to check the time. Luckily for him, it was an hour before his starting time at the Corporation. Yanagi started his daily routine and finally set off for work. During the trip to his workplace, he was thinking about how he would name the robot. It must have a name since it will be a human-like thinking being. He made a list of names that could possibly work for it. Based on the destruction list, it already had a name from its maker. Its name was YR-01, which is a typical binary code for a robot. The acronym meant "Yield Robot number 1," so Yanagi knew it was Asahi's first experiment. The list was as follows:

----------------

Name list for YR-01:

~ Chase

~ Noah

~ Homer

~ Meta

~ Pixel

~ Galaxy

----------------

The list wasn't long but satisfying enough to conclude on a name for his robot. Yanagi reached the Corporation, exited his car, and walked to the door of the building. He took out his card and was ready to clock in until he saw Asahi entering as well. He panicked for a short time from the inside; however, he now knew he was the legal owner of Hokai. Yanagi stopped for a minute. Hokai. How did this name come to his head? Yanagi woke up from his zoning out after hearing Asahi's voice: "Good Morning, pal!" Yanagi waved at him; that was enough for his mental state.

Asahi made sure to approach Yanagi in a friendly manner so he could win his trust. Curiosity about what had nearly caused Yanagi to go against the rules heated him from the inside. He wanted to see how this beloved opponent of his was running to his fields. Somehow, he felt proud about him, as if a bond had reconnected their friendship. But that was just a passing thought. In reality, he wanted to see if he could sabotage Yanagi's work based on this information.

Asahi asked more questions about yesterday, but Yanagi was zoned out. He completely ignored Asahi; there was a sad expression on his face. Yanagi informed Asahi that it was not the right time to talk. Asahi smiled at him and told him that bad things happen in life, and he should not take it negatively. Deep down, he thought that Yanagi had already been punished by the Corporation and he might get what he wanted. Yanagi completely ignored Asahi's presence and walked slowly to his desk.

He sat down as if his body had disconnected in the last minute, and gravity was the only force that drove his body down onto the chair. Yanagi's eyes were red again, but this time not from insomnia. This time, Yanagi was disappointed with himself. He had completely forgotten his past. The routine of his life had made his mind blurry about his past life. He had almost forgotten who he was. His past self would judge him for this. How could he possibly forget? How could someone forget their own son? That's it! That's why the name Hokai jumped to his mind.
