Chapter 1 - Awakening 1

Alexander woke cold hungry and tired still cursing a old man for dragging him here yet it was as he was cursing that he realized that he had been saying the words aloud which prompted him to jerk upright thus proving that he was nolonger condemned to die what had happened where was he did he somehow actually get sent to another world or was he just in a forgotten lab somewhere. As he Alexander looked around he realized that he couldn't see any light sources at all yet the room was visible what was this what was going on and then he realized that the light was coming from the walls and floor and even ceiling themselves how he wondered how was the light as dim as it was coming from everywhere in the room. Alexander soon noticed several crates tucked I'm a corner the darkness of the crates giving away their position as they were the only things not emitting light in this crazy room. Alexander decided to explore the room a little but first he decided to check out the crates and so he stood up only to fall flat on his face surprisingly despite a clearly broken nose and blood slowly oozing from it the pain was only a dull ache which was odd but he was glad for it and he straightened his nose before gingerly walking towards the crates far more carefully than before. Arriving at the crates Alexander [(A) from this point on] opened them one by one the first containing a few robes all the same color a bland dull brown and nothing else but he was feeling a little chilly so he put one on then checked the next crate. Finding stacks of blank books in the second crate was interesting but for now useless though he did grab one the third crate contained messenger bags made of leather and cloth and thinking he might need one he stored the blank book in it before putting it over his shoulder. So far he had found nothing to truly hit at this worlds nature but he was quickly shown that this world was by far different from his own as inside the last 3 crates were in order a vest resembling a bullet resistant vest the second held little bricks that could be power cells and the last held rifles though unlike any he had ever seen before these were clearly laser rifles complete with slings and they were in good condition though most had a little bit of damage here or there so using his limited technical skills he found one in good condition and then randomly grabbed a battery pack and sloted it in before trying to fire a shot.

Pulling the trigger was disappointing as nothing happened and after that using a old trick he wet his fingers and tested the charge of every one of the packs nothing not even a tingle so he packed 3 into his satchel and looked for the exit. After some fumbling around he found the door and after some more fumbling he opened it only to find himself in a hallway lit only by the glow of red emergency lights and after walking around for a while found a few rooms that were interesting but not useful one contained crates of sealed tubes with faint writing on the outside that seemed to be rations though who knows what kind of shelf life they had and how expired they were. In the rooms he searched he found little that could be used though the rations might still be edible that would be risky to try but seeing no other options he popped one open and ate the gell like sludge inside and found it edible barely with a flavor reminiscent of beef stale and unseasoned but it didn't immediately kill him so that's a start. After his first meal and feeling better he searched the remaining hallway and found a series of rooms that looked like quarters of some kind and after searching through a few he found a few things that were interesting such as a a few jumpsuits the full body kind which after checking the fit he put one on under his robes with the vest underneath the robes and on top of the suit he also found a charger looking device that could fit one of his power packs so he slotted it in and waited for it to charge.

After a few hours the charger clicked and the power pack was ejected and he slotted in another before he swapped out the drained pack and then spotted a small switch on the laser rifles side he flipped the switch and the rifle lit up and showed a tiny light and a green bar along with a second that was empty so he figured that one represents charge and the other heat a useful feature. After charging the 4 power packs he had A headed out to look for anything else useful and possibly find some armor or maybe some books.

After searching through the first floor pretty throughly A found little of interest so after hehad found the stairs to the next level up he went and it was shear luck he didn't die immediately as he opened the door and found a enemy immediately as a skeleton looking creature immediately opened fire on him though its aim was poor he immediately dodged back through the doorway and grabbed at his laser rifle.

Laser blasts could be heard impacting the door from the other side as A readied his own weapon and thinking himself clever rolled across the hallway firing the laser rifle 6 times at the creature before rolling back into cover on the other side. Just after his tactical rolling he heard a loud thud and the firing from his foe stopped so he cautiously looked out from cover and found that one of his shots had actually gone through the face of the skeleton looking creature and put it down. After taking down the enemy he inspected the remains and realized that it was a skeleton held together by tech a tech skeleton if you will and apparently the only thing keeping it moving was electronics in what remained of the head how it was still charged enough to still be functional was a good question but after inspecting the remains it gave a good idea as to this foes weakness.

As A realized that he would be facing foes that had technically died long ago he was clearly in a strange universe indeed. After carefully searching the second level he found little useful and no more tech skeletons which was a bonus but the first one did provide some insight into the situation atleast. After searching through the second floor and finding nothing he headed to the next floor and found a massive hangar bay with an odd console that resembled a navigation console in a few of the games he played on earth but this was different there was a hopper looking device right next to it nearly 3 meters across and built right into the floor so he checked it out.

At A's approach the console lit up and projected a ship above itself it vaguely looked like what might be called a fighter but A had to question it so he tried touching the projection and it changed so his inner sci-fi geek came out. After manipulating the projection repeatedly and tweaking the design for what felt like hours he finally finished his own design it was an odd looking ship as the projection could only be manipulated within its specific parameters but he had completed his own little project. What graced tge projection screen was almost a replica of a gunstar 4 twin engines on a rotation mechanism that would allow 360 degrees of rotation in nearly any direction mounted on pylons that stuck out from the ship then the hull he designed based on the design of the arc 170 and for weapons he installed 8 pulse laser cannons on mini turrets 4 on the front 4 aft then in the ships nose he added 2 of the ship weapons that had been on the first design that had been loaded they were particul cannons though they were situated on either side of the cockpit. He dubbed his new ship the gun star mk2 and he even added a landing system using 3 vertical thrusters in the underside of his design and a trio of landing skids it was an interesting ship however his excitement was abruptly halted as the projection flashed "insufficient resources" and then "please load hopper with these resources" and then listed out resources for a few minutes.

Dejected he thought he was through but decided to see if he could actually manage it so thinking quickly he began the process of hauling everything he could think of into the hopper from crates to robes to spare power cells and the leftover laser rifles though he made certain to track what resources were added by what. After dumping the last bed into the hopper he was starting to get frustrated he was still short on several materials though he had managed to fill the required fiber cloth and plastics along with mostly fill the glass requirements and even put a dent in the alloys and several other rare elements required but now there was little left to throw in the hopper so he explored the hanger Bay hoping he had missed something and that's when he found a hidden compartment with more crates.

Opening the crates he found a full body suit that had a helmet it was a pilots flight suit he was in luck so he quickly put it on then checked the other crates and found a full combat armor as well though the helmet was the same as the pilots helmet so after trying both on he chose the infantry helmet reasoning that it would offer better protection. He searched the crates and found a number of flight and combat suits all identical to his own so he dumped them in the hopper but that wasn't all he found in his searching he had also found a crate of weapons and ammunition for them and they were strange and looked like anti ship weapons almost but in the hopper they went as well though he kept one with 2 clips of ammunition for himself and his additions had nearly filled the requirements for resources of his ship and he was down to 1 last crate of things to add.

The last crate held a number of oddly shaped devices of all kinds though most would fit in the palm of your hand and so he figured they were grenades of some kind so in they went as well. It was finally time to hit the button and with some trepidation he activated the console.
