" Fine!" Kevin grumbled as he stepped out, not minding the answer he received from Dean in the slightest." Take out all the belongings you have in your spatial ring; even clothes are included."
Then Kevin looked at Kerin as he remembered something." By the way, is any of you missing?"
Such a question was normal since the guard knew that guilds would never send a group of five for a mission.
In each mission a guild sent their divers to execute. At least ten members were sent out; most of the time, it was fifteen.
Such a rule is only to prevent the death of divers in any kind of circumstances.
The higher-ups aren't mindless, and they knew that a lot of divers didn't like each other and might get rid of one another.
In some other cases, mages and warriors will team up to capture a diver outside of Irinas city outskirts to become one themselves, which initially caused a huge headache to the leaders of the various guilds.
Thus, in order to deal with such an annoying problem, a strict rule was made and approved by all the guilds.
Everyone below the star seeker cannot go in any missions unless they had a group and it consisted of ten people minimum.
This rule worked out very well since no sane mage or warrior would dare to attack so many unknown divers or well-known ones even if their greed went beyond the roof.
At the same time, a group of ten divers will surely have several neutral people between them that weren't hated by anyone or liked by a lot of people, which will help stop any quarrels between divers if they ever arise in missions.
Subsequently, Kerin replied with a little impatience that could easily be detected in his tone." Yes, we are missing one; he is called Sam and stayed behind to compensate the Lord of Mountain Rock City. I believe he will be arriving tomorrow if no problems occur in his journey."
Kevin ignored his impatient tone and nodded in understanding, a little frown visible on his face as he stated." The penalty for Sam being subjected to an attack from others and losing his diver identity will be on your group of five, and I believe I don't have to tell you the consequences of it right?"
" Yes!" Kerin spoke with an annoyed tone.
If he didn't trust Sam or himself to be able to bear the consequences, he would have never accepted Blank suggestion to leave him behind with the Lord to compensate them for the adventure guild-building destruction.
He would have instead insisted on everyone awaiting the negotiations to be finished and then moved out altogether.
Alas, Dean was someone they had to take as fast as possible to the chaos world for various reasons.
One of the reasons was Kerin's interest in inviting him to the guild; he also thought Blank had such thoughts since she invited him along.
Kevin slowly looked at Dean.
Then he looked at Kerin with a raised eyebrow.
They looked at each other for a while before Kevin finally gave in and sighed.
" If he has any hidden objects and creates a mess with it later on, the responsibility will be taken by you," Kevin grumbled as he averted his eyes.
Dean didn't mind how the guard spoke and just stood there motionless.
Dean had no belongings to begin with and even if he did, he wouldn't bother to hide them from inspection.
His stuff wasn't expensive or a secret from the public.
Alas, the guard seemed to think that he was hiding a few things.
Nevertheless, Dean didn't care and awaited the permission to enter.
" You guys can enter," Kevin said.
He then opened the door and walked through it.
Diver Blank followed him while the rest trailed behind her, with Dean being the last to walk through the door.
Bang!
The door was closed behind Dean, and Kevin went to do his own things after sending his farewell to Kerin in an annoyed tone.
" Don't mind him, he was sleeping behind the door not realizing that the other guard had finished his shift and it was now his turn," Kerin said with a smile from the side.
" Okay," Dean replied with a nod.
" Aren't you a bit cold for someone your age, especially after you found out you are actually gonna enter the gates and become officially a diver?" Kerin shrugged as he said to Dean, surprised how he didn't care about striking up a conversation with him.
It should be known that Kerin was a bone-fide diver on the seeker rank, and even though Dean didn't know the significance of such a rank yet, he would still try his best to befriend Kerin.
However, even though he acted like he was conversing with them and such on their way here, Kerin still felt that Dean was in fact distanced from them.
Kerin even felt for a second that Dean looked at them with eyes full of pity and ridicule.
He didn't know why, but each time he looked at the young man, he felt goosebumps all over his body.
This is the reason why he changed the moment he stepped out of the carriage and reached Irinas City.
Kerin wanted to act as a strong, dangerous man who couldn't be messed with, and even if that was true and he was truly a dangerous man in reality. He still believed that Dean should get a wake-up call.
He then gazed at diver Blank, still failing to detect any reaction from her.
" I'm not; I just don't find the guard interesting enough to know more things about. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind if you tell me more about yourself," Dean asked with a look of yearning.
He truly wanted to know more about Kerin.
Not the person, just his capabilities and strength.
Alas, Kerin wasn't interested.
He first wanted Dean to be sincere enough when he asked that, but from the way the young man said it, Kerin could tell that something was wrong.
" Maybe after you officially become a diver," Kerin said as he stretched and said with a bit of yawn." We should follow Blank and hurry up to register you; we will talk after all of this is over."
Dean nodded," Thank you for your promise; I'll look forward to it."
Dean was fully honest.
He truly wanted to know more things about the stories of Kerin but he also understood that such information about people's lives couldn't be said easily, or maybe Kerin was really tired.
Dean understood where Kerin came from and he decided to give him his time.
The two options don't matter.
What mattered for Dean the most is the information he will receive later on.
" Maybe he really is tired?" Dean thought as he gazed at the back of diver Blank, he inwardly sighed as he imagined her reaction when she finally makes her move.
