Chapter 15 - A Glimpse of Divers Authority Across the World.

Everyone was still frozen in place as they gazed at the divers and the kid walking away from the half-recked adventure guild.

Even though a lot of them were meant to protect the city from such incidents and kill or jail the people who destroyed its territory and killed people inside its wall, none of the mages nor warriors dared to move.

At this moment, someone standing on top of the highest point of the castle neighboring the guild spoke up, his voice hiding behind it deep reverence and fear towards the group of people down there.

" We can't do much about it; they are divers, protecting our world and providing it with gems so we can progress on the path of cultivation. Even though they killed a hundred or so people, they also saved millions of lives around the world."

The others around him nodded in agreement. Some of them were not happy about the development of this incident, but all they could do was keep their thoughts to themselves cause no matter how much they said or gave as evidence, the churches will always align with the divers.

They weren't ignorant; divers protected the world and gave them the power they currently wielded. Thus, even though they were unwilling to watch such a cruel scene unfolding in front of them, they still did their best to accept it.

Dean watched the reaction of everyone around them with a sense of uncertainty, still not understanding why is this act normal to other people.

In normal situations, even though people had powers that could destroy cities, the law was always above all, and there was for sure someone who enforced that law. Either a strong entity or an organization that made sure regular citizens and weak mages plus warriors didn't die for no reason or be taken advantage of, or else the world would be no more than merely a chaotic land.

Yet, even after he just killed a lot of people, and not even being an apprentice wind mage, no one dared to raise a finger against him or personally come to apprehend him.

' Is this related to what that old man and woman said? Me being a diver or something?'

Every step taken, he invested in thinking about the reason behind it, but helpless, still feeling that he really did not understand a thing about his current world yet, asked the white-robed woman next to him in a low voice.

" I'd like to get a book explaining what divers are, same as cards and everything related to the subject. Can that be manageable?"

The woman nonchalantly took out a book covered in black clothes out of nowhere and handed it to Dean, seemingly understanding that even though he was a diver, he was still a new one without sufficient knowledge.

Dean took the book with a warm smile on his face, but since he had nowhere to put it, he kept it in his hand.

He then spoke with the old man, that is about to vanish after 20 seconds," Hey you, I'd like you to do something for me; you still have some time left, right?"

The old man was reluctant to obey, but the restrictions on his soul were so strong that he had no other choice but to do so; helplessly, he replied," Speak."

Dean felt the resistance in his voice, but he didn't care. This was his opportunity; just because the old man isn't pleased with his outcome doesn't mean he will lay down and lose his life in the process.

As he thought of that, he gave him a few instructions and let him be on his way, disregarding the remaining time.

'It doesn't matter what information I ask for; he will most likely play with words to make it useless. Plus, his job to protect me was over; the last preparations I made using him should be more than enough to execute my plan.' He inwardly grinned looking at the woman walking a few centimeters ahead of him on the muddy ground.

" Before we leave the city we need to do a few things. I believe it is fine with you, right?"

Even though he wanted to leave the city, he needed to deal with his wind gem and the deal he made; he couldn't just let it be. Also, what is better than asking these divers to solve his small issue? Since they wanted to recruit him, they would gladly agree.

" We? Kid, we are already quite generous to take you with us and transform you into a real diver. There is a limit to everything, so be careful with your words!" This time, the middle-aged man clad in black armor spoke, his voice sounding displeased by how arrogant Dean was acting around them.

The middle-aged man was about to continue scolding him when he noticed that Dean still didn't back down and was about to retort, but diver Blank raised her hand, indicating for him to stop speaking.

" Kerin, we came here with the intention to kill him for stealing those precious cards. The least we can do is accept his few requests if they don't go past our limit. Am I wrong?"

Her voice was gentle and alluring, yet Kerin didn't feel it was the case. For him, he felt great danger slowly heading his way, crawling to his back, suffocating him to death.

He couldn't breathe, his eyes were bloodshot as he tried to reach for some air, and his hands were tightly clenching his throat; for a moment, Kerin felt death just a step away from him, looking at him with a devilish smile, waiting for him to give in and gift his life to it.

" Kerin, are you okay?" A man clad in green armor right a step behind the middle-aged man couldn't help but intervene after seeing him frozen in place with an ugly expression, sweat dropping off his forehead and drenching his whole back.

" Y...Yes I'm fine," Kerin snapped out of the illusion he was placed under and absent-mindedly answered; his eyes were filled with fear as he gazed at the white-robed woman in front of him," I'm sorry diver Blank, you are right."
