Chapter 1 - Before Angel met the Devil

Angel was calm as she scanned boxes, stacking them neatly atop one another in a cart. She'd gotten use to this routine of walking from one lane to the next and following the blue lights, whatever kept her busy. She liked working at the Only Love Warehouse, despite the odd name.

She'd gotten used to the new area, and other than all the walking, she enjoyed the task. Previously she'd done packing in the First Love Department for a year, but now she was in the Shipping Love Department. Others told her they found standing in one spot annoying and hated the First Love Department, but Angel was starting to get bored and miss it, even with all the walking she did in the Shipping Love Department. "I'll try this out for a year, maybe I'll transfer back to my first area," she thought.

One thing Angel liked that was different from her previous area, was that she got to talk to people and had actually made a few friends. Since the Only Love Warehouse was all about diversity, Angel liked meeting new people from different backgrounds, cultures, and of all ages, though it got a little too much sometimes. For instance, an old Elf had confessed to her, as well as a middle-aged Dwarf and a large Pixie, and it'd only been a month. Angel had never gotten confessions before, but she was able to politely decline, she wasn't really interested in love, or at least being in a sudden relationship. Plus, the age gap was a little much for her, and she'd rather be friends first, after all you don't know much about people when you only know them in one setting, at work.

Angel's family also worked at Only Love Warehouse, and since she couldn't drive her own car without getting an Angel flying and driving license, she carpooled with her family. "I should really get my license before my permit expires," Angel thought to herself as she went around to the other side of the lanes to find a busy lane or a blue light lane. An image popped into her head as she thought about driving, a person that had caught her eye, for no particular reason other than their backpack, passing in front of her dad's car, and she was sure she recognized him from somewhere. To be specific, she was sure he worked in her area, but then again, a lot of seasonal people had started, and she was seeing a lot of new faces.

Most people brough clear bags, since Only Love Warehouse recommended it, but they didn't totally ban regular backpacks, if you did bring a regular bag, it just needed to be checked by security before you leave. Still, Angel thought to herself, "reminds me of school," as she placed the last box on the lane into the cart.

Angel has signed up for Summer courses at the community college she attends, but it was only March so she didn't have to worry about school for a while, she was 19, but next month, she would be 20. "I feel bored," Angel thought again as she closed out a cart and walked over to the label machine to print out labels. As she stuck the labels onto the cart, hit the red locked petal with her foot to unlock the wheels, and dragged the cart with her to the shipping door indicated on her scanner, she thought, "I hope something fun happens...how long is left till the last break."
