Frank Parker pressed his lips together and fell silent for a moment.
A moment later, he said in a deep voice, "Ashton."
"Hmm, I'm listening."
"You should know that ten years ago, I accidentally fell into the swimming pool, and it was Rebecca Kelloway who saved me. I was grateful for her life-saving grace and vowed to treat her well for the rest of my life. I also promised that as long as she was willing, I would marry her."
"You mean this? I know about it. Why are you suddenly mentioning this?"
"Actually, I don't like Rebecca Kelloway." Frank Parker closed his eyes and said, "I've never liked her. I've never been clear about whether my feelings for her are out of affection or gratitude for her saving me."
"But now, I'm clear."
