Lady Octavia was crying and sniffling as she spoke on the phone with Rebecca Kelloway, "Rebecca, you're right, that woman is so calculating. Madam Heath really likes her, loves her like her own granddaughter. She doesn't let anyone say anything against her."
"Now that Madam Heath is protecting her, she doesn't even respect me as her mother-in-law."
"I suppose in time, I won't have any status in this home. My daughter-in-law will completely disrespect me."
Whatever was said on the other side of the phone made Lady Octavia's face darker, and her tears flowed more heavily.
