While twisting the screwdriver, I talked to her.
"Yes?"
"Do you know why you're here?"
"Your previous captain died in the battlefield, so the captain position is empty. That's why I'm here"
"Right, you're surprisingly straight up"
"May his soul rest in peace then"
"I believe that won't happen"
What she said given me a sudden pause, I looked at her. A cool night breeze gently blew upon us brushing our hairs, I asked her.
"What do you mean?"
"Previous captain...was killed"
"Killed?"
"Killed by a pure blood officer, I'm the only one who witnessed that night."
I was a little shocked for what I've heard. I can tell from her tone that this is the first time she told anyone about this matter. I remained calm as much as possible.
"I can tell, why am I the only one you're saying this to?"
"Why you ask?"
"...."
"Because we have the same eyes. Those eyes that witnessed everything but still chose to remain silent."
Before I knew it, my grip on the screwdriver I'm holding started to become harder and harder, my jaw locked up tightly and my teeth didn't stop gritting.
"What do you know..."
"Your eyes tells everything. Guilt."
My previous units: 98D, 23B and 02A...those fallen units, they all died as heroes protecting the people from the revenants, right? They died for the sole purpose of securing a better future for the Republic, right? They died as heroes, they died as heroes, they died because of their heroic deeds...right...???
...No, who am I fooling, they all died because of the Republic's unserious and rotten management ha...ha...hahaha...hahahahahahahahaha!!!! Maybe Maya's right. No, she isn't. Yes, she's right. No she's wrong. Yes, she's right. No she's wrong.

Saint Cordana, one of the 12 remaining bastion of humanity around the world. Located northern west of Arelia world map, taking advantage of their technological advancement and huge economy, they managed to maintain the lives of the people secure from the revenant infested zombie world outside of their towering castle-like walls. A happy and secure place to live...that's how they portrayed Saint Cordana in the other nation's eyes, but it's the total opposite.
Saint Cordana is devided in two districts that also devides the two main races from each other.
The Inner Districts which are the districts inside the towering walls of Cordana, inside here lives the Pure Bloods, humans that are classified as pure cordanians. They receive proper educations and lives an easy lives secure from the revenants infesting the world outside. The economy is on top notch and people are all classified as nobels.
On the other side, there's Outer Districts which are the zones outside the walls of Cordana Inner District. Inside here lives the Commoner Bloods, humans that are classified as unpure cordanians. Opposite of how life goes inside the walls, these commoners lives a really hard life outside. They're all forced to work for the Cordanian Army to protect the trenches from revenants preventing them from reaching the Cordana Main Land. If they refused, the revenants will be able to pass the trenches and launch an attack to the Cordana Main Land so they doesn't have any choice. If they exited the army, they will be executed on the spot. They don't get paid by the Inner District but rather, they supply them foods. For the pure bloods, commoners are just weapons for their safety. Only the higher ups of the Inner Walls know the commoner system going around, but all the pure blood citizens share the same disgust towards the commoner bloods.

"Minoru-captain, are you okay? You're spacing out."
"A-ah, it's nothing."
"Sorry for telling you all that. You're right, we've just met today."
She stand up from the bench and bowed a little in my direction.
"Maya, don't tell anyone everything you told me this evening."
"Yeah, I dont intend anyway"
"Next time, tell me everything"
"Yeah"
Finally, I twisted the last screw of the radio. As soon as I turned on the radio, a static noise of an empty channel were heard on the radio speaker.
"What's with that, there's no command for our unit at this time of the evening, why turn on your radio?"
I tuned the radio on the right channel and a calm jazz of music played on the speaker along with a voice from a man reporting news. She peeked at my radio's screen and saw the channel 001.
"Channel 001? Dual zero channels are not accessible outside of the walls, they're exclusive only for the Inner Districts..."
"No, correction, they're not accessible for the COMMONERS. These channels are only installed on those high ranking officer's radios of the management, inshort...pure bloods."
"To be able to do this...captain, who are you?"
"I guess I'm a genius"
Back at the Lower District Headquarters...
So that's why you're interested with him then?"
"No, not just that"
Major Elrich turned his office chair, a smirk can be traced on his face as if plotting about something...
"Minoru Kaiser, seven years ago...is the original designer of the Thermal Weaponry Series...
...the lost genius"
