Chapter 13 - Money

Jiang You's lips curled into a smile, and his typically cold, mountain-like eyebrows were now lightly dusted with a hint of warmth.

Tang Qiao didn't notice as she cracked an egg into the pot, watching it disintegrate into the simmering water. My poached egg...

She touched her nose, then scooped up the noodles. She admitted they looked somewhat unappealing, but as long as they were edible, it would suffice!

A steaming bowl of egg noodles landed on the table. Tang Qiao gazed at Jiang You with anticipation and urged, "Go ahead and eat." It was her first time cooking!

The air was filled with the aroma of the noodles, and Jiang You's cool gaze softened. His fingers brushed against the side of the bowl, sensing the heat. He hastily withdrew his hand, seemingly scalded.

Tang Qiao frowned and took hold of Jiang You's fingertips. She blew on them gently, coaxing him like a child. "It's not hot, it's not hot..."

Jiang You was momentarily stunned. It was as if a spark had ignited within his icy heart, and his pulse quickened.

"Dig in." Tang Qiao handed him chopsticks, offering a reminder, "Blow on it first. Be careful, it's hot."

Jiang You snapped out of his reverie and took the chopsticks. He didn't pay much attention to Tang Qiao's words, instinctively blowing on the noodles before guiding them into his mouth. The noodles were slightly overcooked, and the egg mixture combined with the scent of scallions. It smelled decent but tasted somewhat bland.

"How is it? Is it delicious?" Tang Qiao asked with anticipation shining in her eyes.

Jiang You paused. "It's just so-so."

Tang Qiao expected that response. "If you don't like it, you don't have to eat it. We have two bags of bread at home," she remarked, resting her chin on her hand.

Jiang You continued eating silently, not saying a word. He lowered his head and finished the noodles, his once cold eyes now veiled in a soft mist.

...

Late at night, Tang Qiao neatly arranged her books and picked up her pajamas, preparing to take a shower. Suddenly, her phone rang, alerting her to a text message. She opened it and found a transfer of 200,000 yuan. Initially, she assumed it was the previous host's uncle sending the money, but when she saw the sender's name, she was taken aback.

Tang Qiao set her pajamas down and knocked on Jiang You's door. He was sipping water and responded to her, "Come in."

Tang Qiao entered and inquired, "Why is there money coming from the stock exchange?"

Jiang You sipped his water leisurely and replied calmly, "It's the money I earned from the stock market."

Tang Qiao's expression turned puzzled. It has only been a few days since he opened the account, with an initial capital of only 1,000 yuan.

How has it multiplied to 200,000 yuan so rapidly? She held her question in suspense before finally saying, "Didn't you mention wanting to earn just a little money?"

Jiang You set down his cup, turned his head, and asked in a calm tone, "Isn't 200,000 a relatively small sum?" His initial fortune on Wall Street had amounted to tens of millions of dollars.

"It is indeed a modest amount of money..." Tang Qiao wasn't naive. She wasn't taken aback by the 200,000 yuan figure, but rather by Jiang You's prowess in the stock market. What can he achieve with just 1,000 yuan in shares? Yet, he had managed to generate significant returns repeatedly, converting shares into cash, then reinvesting, and repeating the cycle...

Jiang You finished the last sip of water in his cup and remarked, "If you're uncomfortable with it, I can stop."

"Alright." Tang Qiao nodded and affectionately ruffled Jiang You's hair. "You're very skilled, but the stock market is extremely risky. Please refrain from participating in the future, and refrain from revealing your stock market expertise to others."

She touched him again, but this time Jiang You tersely responded, "Don't touch me." his expression was unchanged.

Tang Qiao recollected something. "What are your thoughts on my live stream?"

Jiang You squinted his eyes and responded almost instinctively, "No." What live stream?

Does she need extra funds? However, 200,000 yuan may not be sufficient...

"Why not?" Tang Qiao was puzzled.

Jiang You considered all the attractive female streamers in the live-streaming community. He furrowed his brows and provided a spontaneous excuse. "You're still a student. It's not suitable to engage in live-streaming."

Tang Qiao reflected for a moment. "I can only stream for half an hour each week, and the content is educational, providing people with medical knowledge. I can earn some money while assisting others."

Jiang You inquired, "Broadcasting popular medical knowledge?"

"That's correct. It's not entirely for profit. The 200,000 yuan you earned from your stock market venture will sustain us for some time. The live stream mainly focuses on science. I'll share a bit of medical knowledge every week, and I won't reveal my identity," Tang Qiao confirmed.

After hearing the last statement, Jiang You's furrowed brows relaxed, and he nodded earnestly. "Alright, then."

The matter of the live stream was settled.

Tang Qiao suddenly remembered something.

She gazed at Jiang You's composed countenance and tentatively asked, "It's Saturday tomorrow. Would you be interested in visiting the hospital?"

Jiang You remained silent.

Tang Qiao felt a headache coming on. Jiang You was a good-hearted person, but when it came to visiting hospitals, he was unwilling to engage in conversation.
