William offered to drive me home. The cold air brushed my face as we drove the empty streets back to Rosalie Manor. The tension between us was palpable, and I couldn't help but wonder what William was thinking.

As we reached the grand entrance of the manor, I hesitated before stepping out of the car. The night had taken an unexpected turn, and I couldn't shake the feeling that everything was about to change.

I glanced at William, and he only nodded. His face remained stoic, his eyes guarded. With a deep breath, I finally gathered the courage to step out onto the familiar cobblestone path leading to the manor's front door. The sound of my heels echoed in the quiet night, amplifying the weight of the moment. The dimly lit porch, adorned with intricate carvings and a heavy wooden door, seemed somehow foreboding as if it held secrets that were about to be unveiled. 

As I reached for the brass doorknob, William held my shoulder, which startled me.
