Chapter 24 - More than Meets the Eye (1)

*********

The eldest young lady of the household, Felicity, said with her dignified demeanor while looking at the person who suddenly confronted them and spouted some nonsense without thinking.

Although the words she's spoken are mostly out of polite gesture, in reality, Felicity just wanted to dismiss the other person like he's nothing else. At the moment, she frowns and thought about the situation right now is a bit odd for her.

She knew that most nobles are arrogant and prideful because they thought themselves superior to others but knew how to maintain, at least, a minimal cordial with each other.

However, this person in front of them, who Felicity didn't recognize within the noble society, suddenly confronted them without fear.

'Not only that, but this person also didn't even think twice to offend a high-rank noble household members, especially, an heir apparent such as our elder brother….'

As she thought about it, Felicity looked at her second older brother and noticed that her usual carefree second older brother had a serious expression while looking at the person in front of them.

'Of course, for someone like him, he also noticed something was odd about this situation as well….'

The eldest young lady could only think of one possibility in this situation.

The Crown Prince….

Speaking of the host of this banquet, the Crown Prince wasn't nowhere to be seen and most of the guests invited were already here, but the host of today's event wasn't around.

'I won't be surprised if that person was watching this show from afar…'

Aside from his second older brother, Felicity could tell that their eldest brother also thought the same as them. Her eldest brother hadn't spoken for a while and only stared at the person who suddenly confronted them with his indifferent cyan-colored eyes as if the person was just nothing to him.

"If there is nothing else, gentleman, please excuse us."

Without waiting for the other person's response, the three siblings left and didn't bother to check the gentleman who confronted them, since there are other matters that they need to take care of, rather than to play politics with these rotten nobles around them.

A FEW DAYS AGO, BEFORE THE SCANDALOUS INCIDENT HAPPEN….

[FLASHBACK]

LOCATION: MARQUIS CHEVALIER HOUSEHOLD

*****HEADMASTER'S OFFICE******

"Do you want to completely remove the current Marchioness from her position since she's been acting as a spy for a long time ago?"

Without further ado, Eclipse immediately dropped this statement in front of his father and afterwards, the dimensional traveler noticed his father's shift of mood because of what he said and for that moment, Eclipse knew that his father was thinking about something else, or much rather, a bigger picture of this situation.

'The Marquis had known about this matter for a long time but what I couldn't understand was…. why was he letting that traitor do whatever she does? It doesn't make sense at all…'

Since most of his memories from his first life were nearly vague, Eclipse needed to pull up the [System Archive] within his system interface in order to review once more about his original worldline.

Upon checking, he didn't expect to find this information and because of that, a certain theory came up with him.

'If the Marchioness was truly the traitor, then…. it means, in my first life…. The crimes that was pinned into my head was actually the works of the Marchioness! Tsk! Just great!'

Although there wasn't any proof about that matter since from the time Eclipse was sentence to death in his first life, the Marchioness was already dead.

However, it doesn't mean that the Marchioness was cleared of suspicion then. Even if his first life was nothing but a script that needs to be followed according to the storyline, although there are plenty of others who had harmed him because of his role but there is only one person that Eclipse wouldn't forgive no matter what.

And that person was none other than Charlotte Aineselle Chevalier, the current Marchioness.

'She is the only person that I wanted to take revenge on and no one else. As for the others, it doesn't matter to me and since I'll be just here in this worldline temporarily, I would do my best to avoid those people as I don't want to be entangled with them either in this life.'

The worldline of [Mystique Enchantress] only centers about the heroine and her six male leads in a classic romance school setting, so of course, the information that Eclipse had read within the [System Archive] were just nothing and it wasn't related to the main story.

Also, who would have thought that outside of the worldline plot of [Mystique Enchantress], there are a lot of hidden plots that could be considered as relevant, or much better to say was… a storyline worth to mention for.

'Well, the storyline only centers on the heroine's perspective and nothing else. If this worldline centers to a third person's point of view, for sure, the storyline would be better…'

However, if that happens then, this worldline would be no longer a school romance story and it will transition to action-adventure story genre, for sure.

"What do you want to do then? Do you have something in mind?"

Eclipse snapped from his thoughts when his father, the Marquis, finally said something after that long silence from earlier.

The dimensional traveler frowned for a moment as he observed this father of his.

'Now that I think about it…. if the Marquis knew that the Marchioness was a spy and a traitor then, the crimes that was pinned into my head from my first life…. Does the Marquis have a hand with this?'

For that moment, he almost snapped but restrained his emotions and then took a deep breath silently.

He would handle this matter at the latter time but for now, there are some more pressing matters that he needs to accomplish first.

Eclipse observed his father's expression for a moment and as expected, although he remained stoic, but he knew that sharp glint that the Marquis possessed.

Anxiety and wariness.

He almost snickered under his breath but refrained from doing so since he didn't want to provoke someone like his father.

'Better to be cautious since I don't know what would happen to me if I pushed further…'
