Chapter 2 - 0-2

Yu Qingyu walked through the empty corridors of the underground secret base.

For a place where only two guys lived, it was surprisingly big. There were plenty of rooms, probably more than enough to accommodate a small army, or at least the elite forces.

'Wouldn't it be more convenient for Liu Wei to keep more of his subordinates around? It would be easier to keep and eye on them, supervise their training, and so on… They could also defend the base, in case the location was somehow discovered.'

[That would be reasonable. However, Liu Wei prefers solitude, and doesn't trust others. Chen Rumin is an exception. He is the one that convinced Liu Wei to gather subordinates in the first place, otherwise, Liu Wei would just fight on his own. He is like a younger brother to Liu Wei. They've been together for a few years, ever since Liu Wei saved Chen Rumin from certain death in the desert.]

Yu Qingyu frowned upon hearing 520's response. On one hand, his current identity made the mission so much easier. On the other, the situation left a bad taste in his mouth.

He decided to try his best not to think about it too much.

He stopped confused in the middle of crossing corridors. '520, do you have the layout of the base? This place is huge!'

[Of course. I'll transfer it into your mind right away!]

The complete and detailed plan of the base, including all the systems, devices and passwords in place appeared in Yu Qingyu's mind. He blinked surprised.

It was even bigger than he thought! And it had various training rooms, a gym, and even a large swimming pool! He made a mental note to check it out later.

For now though, there was somewhere else he needed to head it. He confidently took a turn and walked straight ahead at an energetic pace.

A moment later, he entered a spacious control room, with the whole wall covered in screens with live feed from the security cameras around the base, and another one with the feed captured from the cameras in the city that Chen Rumin hacked.

In front of the control panel, on a large futuristic chair that somewhat reminded Yu Qingyu of those expensive ergonomic gaming chairs from his world, sat a young man, dressed head to toe in black cyberpunk-like clothes.

He was tall, and although he was wearing a few layers, it was still easy to tell his body must be lean, but with at least some muscle definition. He had a handsome face, with sharp, masculine features, strong eyebrows, and a straight nose. His dark and cold phoenix eyes had clearly visible dark circles underneath, but it still didn't ruin his good looks. His long, jet-black hair, tied in a messy high ponytail, contrasted with his pale skin. With his long, slender fingers he held some sort of device with a screen, at which he was staring with a frown on his face.

Yu Qingyu gulped. Why did the villain have to be so handsome? He was totally his type!

Hearing the door open, Liu Wei lifted his sight from the device, his expression clearing up a bit. "You're going to the city today?" he asked without a greeting.

"Oh, that's…"

'520, quick! Do I?' Yu Qingyu asked the system panicked.

[Right. Since Chen Rumin's identity is unknown in Chuxi, he can visit the city without any trouble. And so he often goes there, to do some shopping and gather…]

'Nevermind that now, you'll explain it later! Do I go today or not!?'

[Yes, you can.]

"Ahem, yes," Yu Qingyu finally answered, clearing his throat. "I will be going soon."

"Alright." Liu Wei lowered his sight back at the device.

"Is there anything you need…?" Yu Qingyu asked carefully.

Liu Wei just lightly shook his head in response. "No, not really. You know best what we need."

Yu Qingyu felt a tinge of guilty conscience again. "Alright… Then I'm off…"

He quickly left the room to escape the uncomfortable feeling. As soon as the door closed behind him, he slapped his cheeks.

'He's a villain. A villain! Remember,' he schooled himself.

He took a deep sigh and straightened up. 'Okay, 520, what do I need to take with me?'

[Just a bank card. Then you need to ride the scooter to the city. I've transferred most of Chen Rumin's skills to you, so you should be able to manage.]

Not wasting any time, Yu Qingyu went to one of the hangars. It was rather small, as it only contained the vehicles for Liu Wei and Chen Rumin's personal use. The rest was parked in a different one.

All the machines were futuristic, but thanks to the knowledge from 520, Yu Qingyu was able to understand how to use them. He went to the flying scooter that Chen Rumin usually used when going to the city. It was small and relatively low-tech, which allowed him not to attract any attention.

As soon as he opened the gate on the ceiling, a mass of hot air hit him right in the face. Although it was impossible to tell while being inside, because the temperature in the underground base was pleasantly chill, the place was located in the middle of the scorching hot desert. There was nothing but burning sun and mountains of sand around.

As Yu Qingyu flew out on his scooter, the gate closed behind him. Its surface was uneven, with the color and texture matching the surroundings, thus making the entrance well concealed. It couldn't be spotted from the air. Even Yu Qingyu, despite knowing where it was, would have trouble finding it on his way back if it wasn't for his navigation system.

'No wonder they haven't been found. So Chen Rumin designed it all?'

[Chen Rumin is responsible for the technological side of things, but the design was created together with Liu Wei. For example, the idea for that gate for Liu Wei's. Although his knowledge might be lacking, due to the lack of any proper education since his childhood, he is actually intelligent.]

[But don't worry, host. Liu Wei has absolute trust in Chen Rumin, so even if you act a bit suspicious, he won't actually suspect you of anything bad.]

520 quickly added, trying to reassure Yu Qingyu about the easiness of the mission. However, its words had the opposite result, making Yu Qingyu feel even more uncomfortable.
