Chapter 2 - 02 Moonlight Veil [UPDATED]

At that moment a brilliant light shone from the pendant, so bright that Rath was temporarily blinded by its brilliance and went into a state of daze. The moment he reawakened, he found his consciousness on a white cheesy plane with craters and dust. The land seemed empty, but the sky was moonless and more starry than ever.

'This place is majestic as well as ethereal at the same time. Huh! How am I surviving in the void without a body?' he thought in admiration of the beauty of his surroundings.

It was only a matter of time before he realized that he was on the Moon itself. Rath opened his mouth wide in shock of this sudden teleportation and then he noticed his body having the texture of a shining mist. His shock calmed after that and he exclaimed with droopy disappointed eyes,

"Right… I thought I was really on the moon. This is just another spell, isn't it? I'm being played."

He ran his gaze through the surroundings once more and noticed the complexity of that area to be strange. "No, this is too vast to be a spell. Even the great mages at our academy can't pull something like this off…"

And into the distance in the center of a grand crater, he noticed something that seemed somewhat like a minaret of a majestic castle.

"What the… a castle on the moon?" Rath realized soon enough that the matters are out of hand and he continued with a hint of dread in his eyes, "Call me crazy… but this can only be the work of a Supreme Expert."

A flicker of light appeared from the ground and mesmerized Rath as he followed its wavy float with his brown eyes. And then suddenly the flicker embedded itself into the boy's forehead. His eyes turned blank and what appeared to him was the backward flow of time. It seemed as if the world is running backward before his very eyes like a fast rewind. When his vision returned, his eyes widened and his mouth released a gasp as the first thing he saw was the backside of a Titanic Giant in front of him.

'Is… Is that… WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!?!' Rath screamed inwardly and cursed his misfortune at the sight of the humungous monstrosity.

The Monster tilted its enormous head and rolled its grand eyeballs as if searching for something. The only thing Rath could fathom at that moment was the dreadfully dull look in the monster's eye and a muzzle covering its mouth.

Rath noticed a rune that he recognized but went into deeper shock as he understood the meaning behind it. The knowledge he learned from books suddenly became useful but terrifying at the same time.

'TITAN?! The Old scriptures in my father's library said that Supreme experts could transform into monstrous beings like that.' Rath slapped his cheeks to gain back his composure as he realized that sitting ducks would do him no good. He hid behind a rock and became as noticeable as an ant behind a pebble to the Titan.

'Just what kind of expert is he that I cannot even see his whole body.'

While Rath was trying his best to see his face he frowned in confusion when he saw the Titan's dull gaze suddenly sharpen and the grand figure took a fighting stance. He followed his gaze into the dark void of space, an open eye that intensified with malice as it gazed at the Titan. A monster even larger than the Titan made its appearance on the white moon.

It was an outgrowth of the void itself; made up of thousands of tentacles and the gaze of its eye deeper than space. Its movement was a sight to behold as it navigated through the distant asteroids and comets who could not behold its gaze and blew up in a blink.

Just then the Monster roared, "TITAN!!! How dare you be presumptuous enough to kill my descendant and still be in my domain?"

The Titan merely glanced in the direction of the monster and took out his sword from seemingly nowhere and slashed down one of its protruding tentacles with his right hand.

The Monster did not even flinch at that expenditure of a tentacle and instantly grew back another,

"Today, I shall annihilate you and restore my prestige."

The Titan, despite its overwhelming size displayed great technique and speed. And with a series of simple slashes, it severed close to a hundred tentacles. The void roared in blatant disrespect and shot hundreds of lasers from its eye which destroyed the floating rubble on their way.

The Titan merely glanced at the attack and a white crescent bow burst out from his back like an arc of Bone shining brilliantly in a light that enveloped the Titan in a veil that blocked even the tiniest speck of light, powering him up with unbelievable amount of energy.

Both of them charged at each other while the Titan with his sword seemed like a majestic warrior while the Void looked to be the worst nightmare of all races.

Their collision was the most destructive equal to a thousand nuclear explosions. Their first contact broke space and the vacuum shot a wave of energy that blew Rath away. And in that moment of being blown away, only one thought revolved in Rath's mind.

'This is a fight between an Expert and the monstrous Void… Both can alter the flow of time in space… Where do I stand in this hierarchy?'

The grand-sized rivals continued to exchange countless and infinitely destructive blows. The Void bled and the Titan would be wounded in its mountainous skin.

Their techniques were heaven defying that reality itself trembled. Rath could barely see their techniques and only picked up on the aftermath of each attack.

Their strikes and collisions were truly something beyond imagination. The Titan's every swing was like it split the heavens and those tentacles of the Void were like the dark demons tearing way for them to tear space apart.

After a long bloodbath, the unrealistic fight came to an end as Titan pierced through Void's heart and defeated it at last.

The Void screeched as loud as it could and its sound echoes through the Galaxy, "HOW!? You were two realms weaker than me… HOW DID YOU WIN?!"

Titan didn't speak a word and simply brought his hand forward. A book appeared in his hand which was so majestic that even the greatest of treasures paled in its comparison. The majestic grimoire opened its thick covers and then sucked the dying Void in it like a beast devouring its meal after starvation.

A deathly silence engulfed the land after that. It was as if even space was afraid of the Titan's actions now that he had defeated Void.

Just when Rath thought that he might be blessed with a second chance to live, all hell was let loose on him when Titan glanced in his direction. The Titan looked directly into his eyes seemingly through time and space, and everything went blank for Rath.

Time sped up and fast forwarded his vision to the present, but as he opened his eyes he found an Old man towering above him, looking straight into his eyes. Rath got startled at the 8 foot tall man's sudden appearance and his mind could not handle the level of fear. He held his head and sat down to mumbling words of comfort to himself with his eyes tight shut.

After a moment of silence when Rath regained his composure, he stood up and opened his eyes to find that the tall man was nowhere to be found.

"I could've sworn he was right here… He looked human, but he gave me the same feeling of dread as that Titan."

It was only when he had blinked just once… the man appeared once again but so close this time that Rath could feel the warmth of his breath releasing from his large nose. His eyes showed such power that Rath did not even realize that the Man had already buried his hand inside his chest and impaled his heart. Blood gushed through his chest and Rath spat out a mouthful.

Then the Man whispered, "I gave you my legacy, Son of Azabier. We will meet again."

Rath's vision blurred and it seemed to him that he had finally fallen into death's cold embrace, to reunite with his late father.
