I honestly answered, "That wasn't any easier, Storm," as I opened my eyes and moved to face him, almost kissing him on the cheek.
Storm then instructed me to try once more. I tried so hard, but I simply couldn't do it. Storm would sigh loudly and deeply every time I messed up the transition and would instruct me to try again. After hearing "again" so much, I was simply too worn out to continue. He was an extremely demanding teacher.
Storm shook his head in disbelief. "You're more focused on getting it right than feeling what you are doing, Aoife!" Don't think; just feel your fingers as they press the keys once more.
I gave up after trying again but making the same errors. I'll let the pianist's prodigy handle the playing. Finally, I lost it against the piano as Storm shook his head at me as if I were the worst letdown ever. I hid my eyes and offered him an uneasy smile. Now he was seated, facing away from the piano.
