As Nicholas went out, he suddenly heard his wife's words from behind, so low that he almost thought he was hearing things.
"Husband… You can check up on my wounds later."
He didn't turn around and continued his way out. Still, he realized he could never understand women, especially a woman named Abigail. Wasn't she acting all shy a while ago? How come she was inviting him to check up on her wounds?
Of course, it wasn't like Nicholas was a saint or something. He had been acting cold and indifferent toward her because that was his nature. Aside from his mother, no one in this world mattered to him.
But now, this woman had thrust herself in his heart, forcibly making a vast space. He didn't even know what to do anymore with her.
Should he treat her differently? Or should he start acting romantically?
A shiver went down his spine when Nicholas thought of the latter aspect. No, he could never force himself to act uncomfortably.
