Chris felt the sting of the slap across his face, his tongue moving to the left side of the mouth on which Suzy slapped him. His hand reached her throat and drew her close.
"Truth is always bitter, Suzy. Just admit it if Grandpa hadn't given my hand in marriage, then you would have gone to another billionaire family. You wouldn't have hesitated a bit to sell yourself," Chris affirmed, he bored his gaze at her and slowly withdrew his hand from her throat.
"You won't live in my house from now onward. I'll ask the lawyer to give you the divorce papers tomorrow," Chris stated, his expression darkened.
"Chris, you don't value the hard work people put in their work since you received everything on a silver plate. You can ridicule me in every way you want but don't ever say anything about my character. To save my company, I did get offers to sleep with men who have the same thoughts as you, but I refused. I have no interest in living with you either," Suzy stated and walked past him out of her office.
Chris furrowed his brows together when Suzy revealed she was offered to sleep with some rich men, whom she asked for help. He did feel bad for bringing her character in the middle of their argument. Running his fingers through his soft tresses, he decided to find those men who tried to take advantage of Suzy.
He stepped out of the office in haste. There was no sign of Suzy and her secretary, Daniel, couldn't be seen anywhere around. His eyes moved to the secretarial executive staff, but couldn't find Suzy there either.
Chris took out his phone from the pocket of his jeans and called Benjamin.
"Chris, why are you calling at this hour?" questioned Benjamin from the other end of the line.
"Uncle Benj, could you investigate who Suzy sought assistance from before approaching my grandfather?" inquired Chris.
"Why do you want to find this out? It shouldn't concern us," remarked Benjamin, setting his pen down on the desk.
"Can't you just find out the details? I want to know whom Suzy visited for help before finally seeking help from Grandpa," Chris affirmed, frustration evident on his face.
"Chris, first you've to tell me the reason behind your queries," Benjamin pronounced.
"I'm hanging up the call," Chris muttered and disconnected the call. He strode to the elevator and saw an office employee.
"Did you see Suzy?" Chris asked the man, who was in his early thirties.
"Ah, yes. The CEO has left the office with secretary Daniel," the man answered.
"Where did they go?" Chris asked.
"They left for a meeting," came the response from the man.
Chris hummed and headed to the VIP elevator and went inside the luxurious elevator painted in gold. His phone vibrated and he found out it was from Benjamin.
Answering the call, he brought it to his ear. "I will send the details soon. Chris, remember not to trouble Suzy. She is a working woman, who isn't an ordinary employee but the CEO. You must–" he couldn't deliver his words to Chris as he interjected.
"Uncle Benj, I don't want to hear the lecture on this. I know Grandpa is beside you. Inform Grandpa that he shouldn't have created trouble for me. Also, I will divorce Suzy tomorrow," Chris said in annoyance and hung up the call in a fury.
Benjamin gazed at his phone's screen in bewilderment and looked at Arthur, who had a smile covering his face.
"Chris said he would divorce Suzy tomorrow. Did she agree this early to leave him?" Benjamin asked with a confused gaze.
"Suzy will never divorce Chris. I know she must be suffering because of him, but I also know how loyal she is to her deals. Do you think I've chosen her merely because she handled such a big company from a very young age?" Arthur amusedly asked.
"I'm totally confused, Master," Benjamin said. "I think Suzy is quite a disciplined lady, diligent and dedicated toward her work, the reason why my Master thought Chris could come to the right path if she would be a part of his life," he explained.
"That's one reason. However, another important fact is that Suzy has been single all these years. There is no record of her dating life. Chris, on the other hand, goes for random hook-ups. He doesn't value what he has. Suzy does reflect his mother's values as well, which he will gradually find out," Arthur proclaimed as he moved the ring to the middle of his finger.
"Chris was young when his mother passed away. I don't think he even remembers what his mother was like," Benjamin asserted.
"You're mistaken, Benjamin. We're fully aware of the potential Chris could have reached today if my estranged son hadn't shattered his marriage with Chris's mother," Arthur declared, his tone turned menacing.
"You should find out from whom Suzy visited for help and hand the list to Chris," Arthur directed. Benjamin complied with the order and requested Arthur's signature on the documents required to transfer assets into Suzy's name.
Arthur signed the documents, passing the file to Benjamin, who exited the room to carry out the task.
