Chereads / Trapped Marriage: My Husband is a BAD BOY / Chapter 9 - This kiss is necessary

Chapter 9 - This kiss is necessary

Chris gazed at the priest, who told him the importance of sacred marriage, a promise that they needed to stand together for their entire life whatever the situation would be.

The priest's words irked Chris and he finally spoke, "Why don't you just say the vows? Stop preaching about marriage and its importance."

His behavior toward the priest made Suzy uncomfortable and she found he was not even respectful to the people of his father's or grandfather's age.

"Please forgive the rudeness of this young man. His mind has yet to grow," Suzy intervened, apologizing to the priest on Chris' behalf.

"Don't speak while I am conversing," Chris stated.

"Do you wish to fight in front of everyone? Just keep quiet and respect the elders," Suzy said, glaring into his eyes.

The priest smiled to see the two of them confronting each other. He turned to Chris, his gaze gentle yet penetrating. "Chris Onetti, do you solemnly promise to cherish, honor, and protect your bride? To be a faithful partner in times of plenty and want, in sickness and health, as long as you both shall live?"

Chris ended up smiling internally hearing that vow. He would never be faithful to Suzy. She didn't need any protection from anyone. Why he should care about her when everything was against his choice? While contemplating all these things, Chris said nonchalantly, "I do."

The priest then turned to the bride, his expression compassionate. "Suzy Watson, do you solemnly promise to love, respect, and support your groom? To be a loyal companion in times of joy and sorrow, in wealth and adversity, as long as you both shall live?"

Without further delay, Suzy responded, "I do."

The priest nodded, acknowledging their responses. "May these vows you've exchanged today be the embodiment of your commitment. May your love grow stronger with each passing day, and may you find in each other the unwavering support that sustains and uplifts you."

Suzy and Chris exchanged the rings as the priest instructed them after the completion of the vows. The priest announced them as husband and wife and asked Chris to kiss his bride.

Chris' three friends started shouting, "Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!"

Arthur clapped to see them as a couple and so did the other guests present in the hall.

Suzy pulled her hand away from him and stood straight, not wanting him to kiss her. Chris felt infuriated because she rejected him kissing her. He took it on his ego, clasped her wrist, and forcefully made her turn to face him.

"Leave my wrist," Suzy said, keeping her voice low.

"Oh, I will after kissing my bride," Chris remarked and placed his hand on the back of her head.

Suzy clenched her fists, unable to move away. She felt his hot breath tracing her lips as their faces came in close proximity. Her eyelids fluttered in nervousness since it was her first time experiencing such a thing.

"You never kissed anyone, didn't you?" Chris whispered against her lips.

"That's why let me go. Don't do anything which I don't wish for," Suzy muttered and his thumb rested on her lips.

"I am a good kisser, Suzy. You are my wife now, so to make our marriage official, this kiss is necessary," Chris stated. His tone took a mischievous turn as he added, "You also made me do things against my wish, so you need to accept my kiss."

Suzy's gaze shifted downwards, her heart racing as their breaths mingled, and the warmth of their proximity sent a shiver down her spine. Gathering her resolve, she lifted her eyes to meet Chris's, their noses almost touching, a world of unspoken emotions hanging between them.

In that suspended moment, it happened.

Chris's lips descended gently onto hers, a fleeting collision of sensations that stole her breath away. The touch of his lips was simultaneously warm and moist, and against her own lips, she felt the subtle coolness of his piercing. Her pulse quickened, a whirlwind of feelings swirling within her. Yet, even as his kiss pressed against her, Suzy hesitated to reciprocate.

Summoning her inner courage, she responded not with a kiss, but with a deliberate nip at his lower lip. It was a surprising move, an expression of her complex feelings, and it caused Chris to draw back, his eyes widening in surprised amusement. He licked his lips with a grin across them.

His arm circled around her waist as he deliberately drew her close, passing a smile to all those who witnessed their marriage.

"How will you save yourself from me at night?" Chris asked her.

"Have you not heard of consent?" Suzy asked him, still angry at his initiation of the kiss. They exchanged glances at each other.

"I have heard about it," Chris said, still smirking at her. "You gave me the consent to kiss you. When you lifted your eyes to gaze at me, it was clear to me. You wanted to experience your first kiss. You should be grateful that I kissed you, else my lips are reserved for some special women," he remarked.

Suzy chuckled to hear his words. "You mean that blond woman of the bar and other women who love to throw themselves on you. I never asked you to kiss me, Chris. If you want to get rid of me, then fight like a man, not a cheap bastard," she stated.

"Look at them. They both are having verbal arguments. Suzy again shut Chris' mouth," Thomas told his two friends, who were smiling seeing thd video they took of Chris kissing Suzy.

"Let the newlywed argue with each other or else how they both will crazily be in love with each other," Liam stated.

"Do you think something will happen between them tonight?" Thomas asked.

"Chris will be shouting at everyone tomorrow because he will fail to bring Suzy to his bed," Liam immediately asserted.

Peter shook his head. "I don't think so. Chris will definitely succeed in doing everything in his capacity to break Suzy," he stated.

"Let's bet then," Liam said.

"How much?" Peter queried.

"You say," Liam left the decision on Peter.

"Let's not bet on anything," Peter stated.

"Fine," Liam replied and smiled. "Suzy isn't the woman who wants a man in her life. She is an ambitious woman for whom her business is her life," he affirmed.
