The collapse of the Gulf Cartel was major news, both for Mexico and the International Community in general. It would have been one thing if the Cartel's territory and assets had been seized by the Mexican government, but the second worst outcome had occurred.
The Zetas had taken control of everything that the Gulf Cartel once owned, sending the United States government on high alert. After all, this meant that the Zetas now had plenty of access to the smuggling routes north of the border, and could bring their violence into the United States, which until now had not been a thing.
The only way this debacle could have possibly been worse is if it was Jalisco who had gained the Gulf Cartel's possessions. News Analysts across the United States were trying their best to stir up a panic, especially since it was an election year, and the more chaos that occurred, the more the two parties could blame one another.
