Surrounded by glowing energy strings, Mattox pulled unconscious Bamboo out of the portal. The storm the katara devourer had been in had truly taken a lot out of him.
Yingsizhe and Obscuro were having a fight, partly with fists, where Yingsizhe was superior, when Mattox suddenly tossed the katara devourer right into the fight. Poor Bamboo had a fist left and right squashing his face.
"I thought he was dead," said Yingsizhe.
"Well, he's pretty dead now," remarked Obscuro.
"Nooooo! What have you done to Bamboo?" whined Mattox, running over and dramatically shaking the katara devourer. "Wake up, Bamboo! Please stay with us!" he pleaded under fake tears.
Sevron, who was sitting on a trunk of a felled tree and was reading a book, laughed softly at that sight. He closed the book and it dissolved with a single handmove.
"Was the book good?" asked Mattox, completely forgetting Bamboo and dropping him.
"Yes, it was. Second Master Luo, why don't you get ready to get the amulet?" Sevron gave Yingsizhe a soft smile. The latter, however, just scowled at him.
"Don't give me orders," he growled. "The only orders I follow are those of her."
"I understand," said Sevron, still with his soft smile. "I'm sorry."
"Conjure that portal," Yingsizhe suddenly barked a bit rudely.

He moved his hand and a swirl of purple matter appeared, looking as if it could devour even light.
Without any farewells or other words, Yingsizhe disappeared into the endless purple of the portal.
Obscuro sighed in relief when the portal closed itself.
Mattox, on the other hand, started sniffling. "We're gonna miss him. He was such a great friend," he rubbed his eyes like he had cried.
"He will come back," assured Sevron, patting Mattox's back like he was a toddler. "Why don't we go to a place, lighter than here and more beautiful?"
As an answer, Mattox nodded keenly. Once again, Sevron proceeded to conjure a portal which lead to a beach. The beach was empty, like a private beach, but it had crystal clear water and fine sand. The sun shone on the water and the soft wind moved the leaves of the palms. Obscuro screeched unnaturally and ran toward a palm to hide himself underneath it.
"Good grief, I now remember that he despises sunlight," said Sevron.
"Who cares," laughed Mattox, dropped Bamboo once again and ran towards the water. No one could stop him as he jumped into the waves. At least he stripped his jacket, shirt and pants only leaving his boxers to wear. With a headshake, Sevron summoned a deckchair, tapped his clothes and turned them into beach wearing, and laid down under a parasol. How beautiful life was…
