She did not know how to react to his declaration. Her mind told her to run and stay away from him, but her body wanted to remain rooted on the floor.
Did he mean what he said? Or was this another joke to him? But staring into his eyes, she saw something else in there. She guessed he was far from laughing.
"This is not the time for your games." Still, she felt apprehensive as she kept her distance.
A part of her wanted to envelop him in her arms. Another part wanted to slap him for making her feel all these crazy things.
"Who said I am playing a game?" This time, he stepped forward, threatening to invade her space. "I like you, Thalia."
She thought of walking away from him. But thinking about something was different from doing it. As much as she wished to stay away from him, the pull of his stare kept her in place.
