She put her hands before her eyes, hoping to block the visions that swirled in her mind. Moreover, she also hoped that the darkness would finally claim her consciousness.
But to her dismay, she stayed wide awake, unable to sleep a wink. The earlier events seemed to play repeatedly in her head, just like a broken record that would not stop.
SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP!
Jules wanted to shout at the top of her lungs. She wished her brain would stop working and shut down. Then, let her rest.
Unfortunately, things were not going her way as she tossed and turned on the couch. But that was not all. She also felt a slight pain in her back and shoulders. But she ignored it, not thinking much about it.
For her last ditch effort to lose consciousness, she grabbed her pillow and covered her face and ears to suppress all the distractions.
"Can't sleep?" She heard his voice but ignored him as she covered her face even more with her pillow.
