"Where is she? Did someone see where she ran off to?" Voices vibrated through the leaves, on the trees, and everywhere around her.
It sent goosebumps through her body as the hairs on her skin stood up with the fear of being caught. Quickly, she squeezed her body more, surrounding herself with the branches and the abundant greeneries.
Then, her ears heard it, making her heart almost jump out of her chest. She recognized the distinct sound since she had heard it countless times when she was younger.
"No!" Jules muttered as she realized it was the cry of a dying man. She did not want to think of it, but it was too painful to ignore as tears flooded her eyes.
Did they kill him? Well, it sounded like it. But she could not help but pray that they just tortured the man until he had lost consciousness.
"No," She whimpered as her body shook with fear and anguish.
