"I am not going to the party." She stubbornly refused to take the clothes that her parents placed on the bed when they stopped by to visit her.
She was not about to parade herself in front of everyone they knew in her wheelchair or a cane. Besides, she had another reason she did not want to be seen in public.
But, of course, she was keeping that to herself. She was not about to announce that to her parents or anyone else.
"But you can't lock yourself in the house. Our family and friends would expect to see you standing by your fiancee at his mother's party." Her father reminded her.
It was not like she needed reminding of what people expected of her. In their world, privacy did not seem to exist.
Everybody seemed to believe they were entitled to meddle with her life. But she did not care about everyone else. She could not care about what they thought of her.
