"Are we still far from our destination?" Jules could not tell, but they had been driving for more than ten minutes since their flat tire.
She could tell they were still in the City limits but far enough from the fuzz and buzz of the urban crowd. She could not say if she had been in this part before, but she had no recollection.
"No. We are almost there." Damon turned to her for a mere seconds, with a charming smile on his lips that almost reached his eyes.
It suddenly reminded him of his son, seeing, for the first time, how much they looked alike. She tried not to think of it, but now, she could not escape the truth.
She had never forgotten his face as much as she wanted to. He had constantly plagued her mind, in her dreams, and sometimes in her waking hours, too.
"And what is there?" She played it cool and tried her luck, hoping to catch him unaware. But he only shook his head, already ahead of her plans.
