At the Tario castle's meticulous gardens, King Vincent watched his wife with a sinking heart. He did not need to see her face to know that she was crying. Her shaking shoulders gave her away before he reached her.
Queen Zaria stared blankly at the water feature before her, tears still streaming down her cheeks.
"If I didn't know better, I would say you are planning on running away,"a husky voice she knew too well spoke behind her.
She quickly wiped away her tears and feigned a smile, an action that pierced through his heart. His wife was for the first time hiding her emotions from him.
He walked around and crouched down in front of her. With the back of his hand, he gently wiped away her tears away.
"Sarah will not be executed. Gwen only played along to see the councillor's end game," he told her. He knew her too well and knew that she would never take that verdict well.
