In the dead of the night, a couple of meters from the Su sacred clan, a whispered echoed slightly, carried by the wind. Four silhouettes with grim expressions looked at the Su clan with firm determination.
"You know the mission," one of the men said in a low voice.
The other three nodded.
Without further delay, the four assassins raced toward the Su clan with light steps, leaving no sound behind.
The four assassins had a cultivation level of the Peak of Body Building realm, stage 9. Each of them was powerful enough to lead a clan successfully. Now, such people were reduced to ordinary assassins.
The four assassins moved skillfully, avoiding all the Su guards easily.
Whoosh!
They jumped over the high wall and landed inside the clan. Without stopping, they moved toward a particular direction at top speed. Since the moment they started moving, barely twenty seconds had passed, showing that the four were all veterans.
Arriving in a peaceful courtyard surrounded by a sea of flowers, the four assassins looked at each other and nodded. Two of the assassins headed into the courtyard, while the other two stood outside.
Inside the courtyard, the two assassins walked stealthily toward a room with dimly lit light.
Creak!
They forced the window open and jumped inside without making a noise. Right inside the room, a lady was lying on the bed, having a sweet dream, unaware of the impending danger.
One of the assassins went toward her feet while the other went for her mouth. However, the two assassins still underestimated the sacred clan. Just as the two tried to grab her mouth and leg, she moved. She jumped, avoiding the grasp of the assassins.
Whoosh!
"How dare you?!" Su Lan shouted, reaching out for her sword immediately. Her swift action left the assassins shocked; this was not supposed to happen.
Nevertheless, the two assassins recovered from their shock and exchanged glances, launching a deadly assault on Su Lan. Since the mission didn't go according to plan, they needed to improvise.
Bang!
Su Lan parried the two sword attacks and took a step back with a calm expression.
"I don't know what gave you the confidence to attack us, but you can forget about leaving here alive."
Meanwhile, the two assassins were once shocked again when they realized the intel they had on Su Lan was all wrong.
She was supposed to be an intermediate Body Building realm, stage 6. However, the Su Lan in front of them was at the peak of Body Building realm, stage 7.
Realizing the situation was already out of hand, they once again glanced at each other and prepared to make a run for their lives.
"Where do you think you're going?" Su Lan scoffed and attacked them. With not much difficulty, the two assassins easily deflected her attack and jumped out through the window.
Outside the room, the assassins froze.
Standing a couple of feet from them was a young man in white with loosely shoulder-length hair.
"Younger brother!" Su Lan exclaimed, coming out of the room. A sigh of relief escaped from her mouth, knowing the situation was under control.
"Are you okay?" Su Yen asked.
"Yes," she nodded.
"Good!" He nodded and turned to look at the assassins.
"Who sent you?" His voice was calm without any evidence of fury.
At once, the two assassins raised their swords and tried to cut their throats, only to find out they couldn't move a finger.
Instantly, a dreadful feeling descended on their bodies, and their faces turned ashen.
They knew their fate was sealed.
Early the next morning, the commotion and the tense atmosphere were palpable. Su Ming led a battalion of one thousand soldiers out of the clan. Each of the soldiers wore a Metal Bone Construct.
In the bustling early morning streets of Cloudweaver, merchants and hawkers were only just preparing for the day when a tense atmosphere filled the area.
"What's going on?"
"Are we being attacked by the beasts again?"
Just as everyone on the street wondered what was happening, a deafening sound of footsteps echoed at the far end of the street.
All eyes turned, and behold, they saw the Su deadly soldiers marching out of the city.
Though no one knew what was going on, they all knew it was something important, and it was only a matter of time before they found out.
....
In the Li sacred clan, Li Xian sat on his throne with deep worries etched on his face. Since he dispatched the assassins, he had not been able to relax.
"What could possibly have happened to them?" He thought out loud.
"Is it possible for them to be captured?" He furrowed his brow.
"Impossible. How could four peak Body Building realm individuals be casually captured?" He shook his head in denial.
Creak!
The door to the main entrance was forced open, and Li Jun rushed inside with deep fear written on his face.
"Clan master!" he cried in panic.
"What happened? Quickly tell me," Li Xian shouted, standing from his seat. He knew the worst may have happened.
"The assassins failed. The Su soldiers are in our territory now."
"What!" Li Xian exclaimed with wide eyes. He had planned everything meticulously; how could it have failed?
Looking at the shock on his clan master's face, Li Jun shook his head slightly and asked.
"What should we do now? They are taking all our territory and mines, killing all our men guarding this place."
"Should we send our soldiers to fight them?"
Coming out of his reverie, Li Xian's eyes turned bloodshot. He looked at Li Jun and commanded.
"Send our men to kill all those trash."
"Yes, clan master," Li Jun nodded and quickly rushed out of the room.
This was not the time to take a step back. For a clan to be called a sacred clan, they needed to govern over four towns.
Being as one of the oldest clans in the barren land, the Li governed over eight towns.
Now, if those towns were lost to the Su clan, they would lose their roots and standing among the other sacred clans.
"If you think you can intimidate us with your Metal Bone Construct… You're too naive."
"It is time I show the world the Metal Bone Construct is not as invincible as everyone thinks it is… When we defeat them, I want to see what they're going to rely on once again."
